The Betfred World Matchplay is wide open as all the top seeds drop and on Thursday night we have the first two quarter finals. We’ve looked at the form and picked out our best bets for the evening, with a boosted double from 2.6/1 to 3/1!

Betfred World Matchplay Quarter Finals Tips

  • Chris Dobey – 11/10
  • Cullen/Gurney over 27.5 legs – 8/11

Boosted Double 2.6/1 3/1

Chris Dobey – 11/10

‘Hollywood’ joined the pantheon of upsets in the first two rounds, as four of the top five seeds exited before the quarter final stage.

Dobey dispatched of the new tournament favourite and world #1 , Michael Smith, despite losing the first three legs.

‘Bully Boy’ then faced a barrage of high scoring and clinical finishing from the Bedlington native, as Dobey won 11 out of the next 15 legs.

Now, he faces his great mate Nathan Aspinall in the quarter final, who showed plenty of grit to squeeze past Dutchman Danny Noppert.

Dobey looks on a different level to ‘The Asp’ in this tournament and I was pleasantly surprised to see him as the bookmaker’s outsider.

As such, he will be my first selection of the night.

Cullen/Gurney over 27.5 legs – 8/11

I ummed and ahhed long over who was going to win this one.

Joe Cullen pulled off those of those aforementioned top seed shocks, as he raced in to a lead against Gerwyn Price and then came back to win 13-11.

His scoring game was pretty abject but he made up for it with terrific combination finishing, especially on the bull.

Meanwhile, Daryl Gurney has probably been the player of the tournament thus far, dispatching Rob Cross and then Gary Anderson, both with amazing finishing of his own.

I would probably just side with Gurney for this one but by no means am I certain.

What I am certain of is that this on should go long. With the winner needing to reach 16 legs, I have taken a punt on over 27.5 legs in the match.

The two selections pay around 2.6/1 but we have managed to get it boosted out by the Betfred traders out to 3/1, which you can load straight to the betslip by clicking below.
