After landing an odds-against winner in the first T20, Dan Thomas returns to preview the second match with West Indies looking to bounce back immediately from the 14-run defeat in the opener.

Here's our man's best bets for the second of three T20s, live on TNT Sports from 01:00 on Sunday, as he gives us his West Indies vs Pakistan Predictions…

The state of play

Pakistan posted 178 for 6 after being asked to bat first, powered by Saim Ayub's fluent 57 from 38 balls. He mixed power-hitting with composure and also chipped in with 2‑20 with the ball, earning Player of the Match honours.

In response, West Indies openers Johnson Charles and debutant Jewel Andrew combined for a solid 72‑run opening stand, but momentum shifted dramatically when Mohammad Nawaz ripped through the order with a sensational over, taking three wickets in five balls.

This saw the hosts crumble from 75/0 to 75/3 and they were playing catch-up from that point. Only a late dash from Jason Holder - with 30 off 12 balls - got Windies anywhere near Pakistan's total and, in truth, the 14-run margin of victory flattered the hosts.

Pitch report

The pitch in Lauderhill offered good pace and bounce early on, helping strokeplay, but also gripped and slowed down under the sun, aiding spin as the innings progressed.

Expect a two-paced surface again; batters who get set can score freely, but timing becomes tricky later. Ayub said the pitch "was challenging to play on so it was important to build partnerships and not panic". As noted in our first preview, anything over 170 will be competitive here.

West Indies vs Pakistan Second T20 Odds

We filled our boots on the 11/10 on Pakistan in the opener, but the traders are now pricing up the match as a pick'em, with both sides available at 10/11. Shai Hope remains favourite to top score for the hosts at 13/5 despite failure in the opener. Saim Ayub was the standout performer for Pakistan in the first T20 with a half-century and is priced up at 10/3 for a repeat.

Top Batter

It was an encouraging debut for Andrew, who scored 35 at more than run-a-ball, and 4/1 is a decent price for an opener given the runs on offer early on, but Romario Shepherd represents more value at 14/1 for a lower order bash. He hit 12 off five balls in a late cameo in the opener and could easily win this market with a rapid 30 or 40.

For Pakistan, the top three of Ayub, Sahibzada Farhan and Fakhar Zaman are joint favourites at 10/3, but Hasan Nawaz looks a more attractive price at 11/2 after his fluent 24 off 18 in the opener, which included two maximums.

Top Bowler

The traders can't split the experienced Windies seamers here, with Holder and Shepherd joint favourites at 7/2, with Shamar Joseph, who won this market with three wickets in the first match, slightly bigger at 10/3.

The returning Shaheen Shah Afridi only picked up one wicket for Pakistan but he looked tidy, going for under seven an over, and he's favourite here at 11/4.

Best Bets

After that defeat in the opening contest, the West Indies have now lost 17 of their last 19 T20 internationals and they look a team short on confidence and ideas. Pakistan have been cut into 10/11 but I'm happy to stay on the horse for now. For a bit of interest at big odds, I'll add in a small stakes play on Shepherd to top score for the Windies at 14s.
