India vs Netherlands Preview & Team News:

India

India put in an absolutely ruthless performance with the ball against Pakistan, and their fielding was pretty sharp, too.

Our man Varun Chkravarthy was one of four Indian bowlers to have taken two wickets so we had a four-way dead heat at odds of 13/5 on him.

But India has Ishan Kishan to thank for their good total in the first place. He smashed 77 off 40 and looked like he was batting on a different wicket to everyone else.

Sky Yadav got 32 off 29 but no-one else really got going. It's a bit of a concern for India that this isn't the first time they started well with the bat before losing their way. The form of Abishek is a bit of a concern too. He missed one match through illness and got ducks in the other two.

But there's no doubt that they're looking by far the most likely winners of the tournament.

Netherlands

The Dutch will be a little disappointed with their own efforts so far.

They could easily have beaten Pakistan in their first game if they'd taken a crucial match and were poor by their standards against the USA, conceding 196 and never looking like getting anywhere chasing that.

In between those two games, they did, however, beat Namibia.

As ever, all-rounder Bas de Leede is their main man.  So far he's made scores of 30, 72, and 23, while also taking five wickets. Remarkably, Roelof van der Merwe is still around.

He was playing for South Africa back at the 2009 World Cup, before switching allegiances.

India vs Netherlands T20 World Cup Predicted Lineups:

  • India: Abishek Sharma, Kishan, Sky Yadav, Varma, Pandya, Dube, Rinku, Axar, Chakravarthy, Bumrah, Arshdeep.
  • Netherlands: Levitt, O’Dowd, Bas de Leede, Ackerman, Edwards, Lion-Cachet, van der Merwe, Logan van Beek, Dutt, Klein, Klassen.

Pitch and conditions

We're at Ahmedabad, home of the gigantic stadium and a lovely batting wicket.

New Zealand's 175 wasn't enough to beat South Africa, who chased that down pretty easily in the end.

India has no excuses for not getting to at least 200 if they bat first, but then again, we said that ahead of their match against Namibia, and they lost that way in that one.

Match Winner odds.

India are 1/40 here with the Netherlands 12/1.

It's hard to make a case for the Netherlands. They've looked a bit below their usual standard so far meaning that a clash against the tournament favourites is unlikely to result in an upset.

Netherlands Top Batsman

Bas de Leede has top-scored in two of his three outings so far, an excellent 72 against Namibia more than enough, and his 23 against the USA just about enough. He almost top-scored in the other one, too.

But this should come as no surprise. He's the class act in the side with the bat and bats at three where he's shielded from the new ball yet has all the time in the world to put together a score. He's 10/3 and though that makes him the favourite, it's still a pretty good price.

India Top Bowler

And I see no reason to jump ship regarding Chakravarthy.  He took three wickets against Namibia to win the betting heat despite only bowling two overs and dead-heated against Pakistan, as we know.

It's mystery spinners that batters from associate teams have the most trouble against at World Cups, so there's no reason why he can't win yet again. He's 13/5.
