Team News
Rajasthan Royals are without Sam Curran but new addition Ravindra Jadeja should feature against his former team after their blockbuster trade with Chennai which saw Sanju Samson travel in the opposite direction.
Dewald Brevis has been ruled out for Chennai Super Kings with an injury, joining Nathan Ellis, MS Dhoni and Spencer Johnson in the treatment room.
Chennai Super Kings are 8/11 to win this one while Rajasthan Royals are 11/10. Yashasvi Jaiswal is 13/5 favourite to be Rajasthan Royals’ top run-scorer while Sanju Samson is 13/5 to top score for Chennai.
Rajasthan Royals @ 11/10
Rajasthan Royals have an impressive record against Chennai Super Kings, winning eight of the last 10 head-to-heads, so it is a surprise to see them as outsiders at home in their first game of the new season.
Chennai have been rocked by injuries to Dewald Brevis, MS Dhoni, Nathan Ellis and Spencer Johnson and will be without star all-rounders Sam Curran and Ravindra Jadeja after trading them to today’s opponents.
They were the worst batting line-up in the IPL last season and while the arrival of Sanju Samson should help them out on that front, they still look weak.
Rajasthan should take a big leap forward from last year, with youngster Vaibhav Suryavanshi set to come into his own on the big stage.
With Jadeja’s arrival they should also have a much tighter bowling attack and their batting looks rock solid. Side with the hosts to kick start the new season with a victory to extend their impressive record against these opponents.

Yashasvi Jaiswal to be top Rajasthan Royals batter @ 13/5
Yashasvi Jaiswal was a real standout in a difficult campaign for Rajasthan Royals last season, making 559 runs at an average of 43, with six half-centuries to his name. He has been in solid form for Mumbai recently and made an unbeaten 116 against South Africa in his last game for India.
The 24-year-old can be relied upon to carry this team from the top of the order and he is worth taking to pick up where he left off by top-scoring for his side once again.
