The 2024 T20 World Cup is in full swing now and Oman and Scotland will both be making their third appearances of the tournament when they meet in Antigua on Sunday.

Scotland headed into the weekend in the unexpected position of leading a group containing Australia and England after picking up three points from their first two games, while Oman have shown some spark despite opening with two defeats.

Oman have not progressed further than the first round in either of their previous attempts, but Scotland reached the Super 12 stage in 2021 and are looking to upset the giants of Group B in their sixth appearance at the tournament.

Oman vs Scotland Prediction

  • George Munsey Scotland top run scorer @ 18/5
  • Aqib Ilyas top Oman wicket-taker @ 9/2

Team News

Oman made two changes to their line-up for their second match against Australia with keeper-batsman Pratik Athavale and Shoaib Khan coming in, but both scored ducks - lasting just five balls between them - so their places must be in danger.

Scotland have named the same team for both of their matches against England and Namibia and it would be no surprise to see another unchanged line-up after their strong early performances.

Oman vs Scotland Odds

Scotland are the favourites at 4/11 to claim their second win of the tournament, while Oman can be backed at 2/1.

Five Scotland players are priced at 18/5 to be their team's top run scorer with Brandon McMullen, George Munsey, Michael Jones, Ollie Hairs and Richie Berrington all at that price. Oman captain Aqib Ilyas is the 3/1 favourite to be the highest scorer for his side.

Scotland look to have the edge in their third match against Oman and they have won all four of the nations' previous meetings, but match odds of 4/11 are not overly appealing and betting on the individual player markets is preferred.

Opener Munsey was not able to make a major contribution to Scotland's run-chase against Namibia, falling for just seven in 15 balls, but he had looked in great nick in the abandoned game against England previously and could bounce back in this game.

Munsey was on 41 not out, with four fours and two sixes, when play was halted against England and that suggests the left-handed batsman could do some damage to the Oman attack.

The innings against Namibia was the only time Munsey has been dismissed in single-figures in his last 10 one-day games, which include T20 scores of 72 against the Netherlands and 75 against the UAE in the last three months.

He looks a solid pick in an open betting heat to be Scotland's top runscorer.

Aqib Ilyas top Oman wicket-taker @ 9/2

Oman had hoped to surprise Australia with the quality of their spin bowling in their second match, but the five Aussie wickets came from their faster bowlers.

That was an impressive performance in itself and Oman had gone really close to winning their opening game when losing in a Super Over to Namibia.

Their spin attack picked up a couple of wickets in that match, including one by skipper Aqib Ilyas. He is better-known for his batting, and has four half-centuries in his last 10 T20s, but he can also chip in with crucial wickets and looks overpriced to take most wickets for his team.

Ilyas impressed with the ball in the recent ACC Men's Premier Cup tournament, taking multiple wickets in five successive games including 4-17 against Cambodia and three-wicket hauls against Hong Kong and Kuwait.
