Delhi Capitals have had the upper hand over Lucknow Super Giants in recent years, winning the last four meetings between the two, and they look a solid bet to add to that tally when they visit these opponents on Wednesday.

While Mitch Marsh, Aiden Markram and Nicholas Pooran are an impressive trio, the hosts’ other batters only made 835 runs last season and the lack of balance in their batting lineup has not really been resolved.

Delhi Capitals have a strong middle order containing Tristan Stubbs, David Miller and Azar Patel while KL Rahul provides star power at the top of the order.

Kuldeep Yadav and Axar Patel are both top-level spin options and Lungi Ngidi is the star of their pace attack but should be ably abetted by new boy Auqib Nabi, who has been a real standout in domestic cricket over the last two seasons.

Delhi look stronger on both sides of the ball and are a tempting price as outsiders to start the new campaign with a win.

Mitchell Starc’s injury was a blow for Delhi Capitals this season but they have added Lungi Ngidi to their pace attack and he could be the star in this clash.

The South African took 12 wickets at the T20 World Cup in India recently, utilising a change of pace extremely well, and he could cause plenty of issues for the Lucknow Super Giants’ batting lineup, which is not the most well-balanced.
