England Women vs India Women Prediction: Indians to extend dominance over NSB’s side

England Women and India Women piled on the entertainment in a close-run T20I series so a packed house at Southampton will be hoping for more of the same in the first ODI between the countries on Wednesday (13:00 BST, Sky Sports Main Event).

India have got plenty in their favour heading to Southampton and definitely look over-priced.

Several of the team who just pipped England 3-2 in the T20Is will take to the middle at the Rose Bowl and a few of them will also have memories of their last ODI series in this country, back in 2022 when they ran out 3-0 winners.

They have also won 10 of their last 11 one-dayers and if they win the toss and bat they go big - they have scored over 275 runs in each of their last eight ODIs when batting first.

India might have a longish tail but they have real talent at the top and that could prove crucial.

England are going through something of a transition following their Ashes debacle and inconsistency is still there in the post-Heather Knight era. India need to take advantage of that and this looks a great opportunity - at a nice price - to produce a statement win.

Sophie Ecclestone was for so long the go-to spinner in the England set-up and the left-armer still has a big part to play, in this series and in the future.

But Charlie Dean has usurped her team-mate as the pick of the England spin attack, the 24-year-old being pretty much the first name on the teamsheet these days.

Dean has always had wicket-taking deliveries in her armoury but now has that critical control which both ties batters down and , ultimately, can frustrate them.

She was player of the match at Edgbaston on Saturday night in the final T20I, taking 3-23 in her four overs, and she can be England's top wicket-taker at Southampton, too.
