Bangladesh defend patient approach
Bangladesh come into this Saturday's clash on the back of a comfortable seven-wicket win over Hong Kong in Abu Dhabi. Skipper Litton Das anchored their chase with a fluent 59 off 39 balls and was well-supported by Towhid Hridoy, who stayed with him through a crucial partnership after early wickets were lost.
But despite chasing 144 with 14 balls to spare, Bangladesh faced some criticism for not pushing harder in the final overs and accelerating earlier once the game was under control, given Net Run Rate likely to be vital in the battle for the top two places in Group B. Hridoy defended their approach, stressing that preserving wickets, building partnerships, and ensuring a win mattered more than finishing two overs earlier.
Tanzim Hasan Sakib, Rishad Hossain and Taskin Ahmed each picked up two wickets apiece and looked tidy enough but Bangladesh will probably have been disappointed to let the associate side get as many as 143.
Sri Lanka looking for revenge
Sri Lanka won their most recent T20 series against Zimbabwe, but the 2-1 home defeat against Saturday's opponents in July - their first defeat to Bangladesh in the shortest format - will remain fresh in the memory, especially for the batting unit.
In Dambulla they were bundled out for just 94, and in the decider in Colombo managed only 132, underlining serious vulnerability of their middle and lower order. Their batting remains heavily dependent on a handful of core players, such as Charith Asalanka, Kusal Perera, Pathum Nissanka and Wanindu Hasaranga.
Sri Lanka's bowling attack is built around their spin trio of Hasaranga, Maheesh Theekshana and Dunith Wellalage, who provide both wicket-taking threat and control. Hasaranga remains their trump card, with over 130 T20I wickets at an average of around 15 and an economy under seven.
While Dushmantha Chameera and Matheesha Pathirana add pace at the top and death, Sri Lanka's greatest strength lies in their spinners, who will be central to their plans in Abu Dhabi.
Bangladesh vs Sri Lanka Predicted Lineups:

Key odds
Despite that series defeat in July, Sri Lanka are strong favourites here at 4/7, with Bangladesh rated as a 11/8 chance. There could be an angle here if SL don't get into their stride early on.
Das looked in fine touch against Hong Kong and he's 3/1 favourite to top score for Bangladesh, ahead of opener Parvez Hossain Emon (7/2), with Hridoy and Tanzid Hasan both priced at 4/1.
For Sri Lanka, opening pair Nassanka and Mendis head the market at 14/5 and 3/1 respectively, with Perera a 4/1 chance.

Best Bets:
While they only scored two sixes in the match against Hong Kong, Bangladesh have vastly improved their maximum hitting in 2025, averaging over seven a game (versus around four for Sri Lanka).
Unlike in the game against HK, they will need to be at full throttle against Sri Lanka and the 6/5 for Litton Das' troops to hit the most sixes looks like a nice price. We'll also back Das to pick up where he left off against Hong Kong, and beat his runs line of 19.5.
