Bangladesh vs Sri Lanka Prediction: Tigers and Lankans playing for pride

It has been a pretty miserable World Cup for both Bangladesh and Sri Lanka but both sides will be looking to restore some pride when they clash at the Arun Jaitley Stadium.

Six defeats from seven matches have meant Bangladesh are already eliminated from this year's World Cup and Sri Lanka could soon follow them, having lost five of their seven assignments.

Most recently the Lankans were humiliated by tournament hosts India, losing by 302 runs in Mumbai, and their morale is sure to have taken a hit.

It has been an underwhelming campaign from Bangladesh, who are 6/4 to pull off only a second win at this year's World Cup.

Sri Lanka, however, have also had a tough time of it and they are 8/15 to come up trumps at the Arun Jaitley Stadium in New Delhi.

Only eight Bangladesh players were in training on Sunday with severe air pollution in the city of New Delhi having meant a number of asthmatic players decided to sit out.

Bangladesh head coach Chandika Hathurusinghe has, however, that will not influence any selection decisions ahead of the match.

Dimuth Karunaratne was a minor injury concern but should shake it off and feature, while Pathum Nissanka and Dimuth Karunaratne can again be expected to open for the Lankans.

Shakib Al Hasan top Bangladesh batsman - 9/2 

There has been very little to shout about for Bangladesh at this tournament.

The Tigers showed promise when they began the World Cup with a six-wicket win over Afghanistan but it has since been downhill with defeats to England, New Zealand, India, South Africa, the Netherlands and Pakistan.

They are not fancied to win against Sri Lanka either, although Bangladesh can at least draw confidence from the fact their opponents have also endured a dip in form.

Picking any standout individual performances in the Bangladesh camp at this tournament is hard, although captain Shakib Al Hasan is usually a reliable option in the top batter and bowler markets.

Al Hasan has had a quiet tournament by his standards but showed glimpses of his quality with scores of 40 and 43 against New Zealand and Pakistan respectively, while he warmed up for the tournament with 80 against India in September's Asia Cup.

Bangladesh have struggled at the crease and Al Hasan looks a decent enough bet to top score against Sri Lanka.

Dishan Madushanka top Sri Lanka bowler - 5/2

One player the experienced Al Hasan should, however, be wary of is Sri Lanka bowler Dishan Madushanka.

Despite his team's struggles at this World Cup, Madushanka has put in some fine bowling performances and has racked up 18 wickets heading into the game with Bangladesh.

His side failed to make a game of it, having been bowled out for only 55, but against India last time out, Madushanka finished with figures of 5-80 off his ten overs.

He was also his side's top wicket-taker against Afghanistan in the match beforehand and he represents value to be the pick of their bowlers once again.
