Serrano vs Morgan Predictions: ‘The Real Deal’ ticks over ahead of Taylor

WBA, WBO and IBF featherweight champion Amanda Serrano returns to the ring this Saturday, July 20 as she takes on Stevie Morgan. This non-title super lightweight affair takes place as the chief support to Jake Paul vs Mike Perry, at the Amalie Arena in Tampa, Florida. DAZN will broadcast the card live.
Here are my Serrano vs Morgan predictions ahead of the return of ‘The Real Deal’.
Non-title fights are a rarity in the career of Serrano. The Puerto Rican superstar hasn’t competed in a bout without world honours on the line since 2021. She does so here with good reason. The current queen at featherweight, Serrano returns to the super lightweight division to prepare for her upcoming clash with Katie Taylor.
Serrano had been scheduled to challenge Taylor for the undisputed super lightweight championship this Saturday. But when Mike Tyson withdrew from his main event bout with Jake Paul, the Taylor-Serrano clash was moved to November to serve as chief support for that rescheduled bout.
Rather than lose out on activity, Serrano is following her promoter in having a warm-up fight before her belated big fight. Rather than defend her featherweight belts, she is sensibly staying at super lightweight and taking on a non-title challenge in the form of Stevie Morgan.
‘Sledgehammer’ certainly lives up to her moniker. Morgan has 13 knockouts from 14 wins against one defeat. She has stunningly halted nine of those victims in the very first round. While her level of opposition has not exactly been world class, it remains creditable to rack up stoppages in this manner.
Ultimately though, the gulf in class is a huge one here. Morgan will be acutely aware of that. Serrano is already certain to go down as one of the all-time greats, even with her career still very much in progress. Only two fighters in history have been world champions at seven different weights. One is Serrano, the other is the iconic Manny Pacquiao. This is the company the Puerto Rican keeps.
Morgan has never found herself in the world title reckoning. The closest she has come was a win over former WBA bantamweight title challenger Paola Herrera. Even then, Morgan was the seventh fighter in a row to stop the Colombian, who was 40 years old by the time they fought.
This opportunity has come about due to fortune more than anything. If Tyson’s stomach ulcer had not nixed the Paul fight, Serrano would be fighting Taylor in a rematch of their 2022 thriller. As it is, Morgan has been enlisted to give Serrano a warm-up test. Unfortunately for ‘Sledgehammer’, I don’t envision it as much of a test for ‘The Real Deal’.
Amanda Serrano vs Stevie Morgan Fight Odds
Serrano is way out in front at 1/50, reflecting her pedigree as a perennial world champion. The less-experienced Morgan is a 14/1 underdog. If you think this one is headed for the draw, you can back a stalemate at 25/1.

Amanda Serrano vs Stevie Morgan Prediction
I see this fight as fairly light work for Serrano. She has more experience, more inherent ability and more momentum than Morgan. The ambitious knockout artist will put up a fight, but I can see ‘The Real Deal’ having this well in hand.
I’m going for Serrano by stoppage here at odds of 8/13. The path to Taylor continues unabated.
