Zach Parker takes on former WBA world super middleweight champion Tyron Zeuge on Saturday March 16 as he looks to get his own belt-holding ambitions back on track. TNT Sports 1 televise this 168-pound collision between boxers from Britain and Germany, emanating live from the Resorts World Arena in Birmingham. Read on for some Parker vs Zeuge predictions.

Parker vs Zeuge Tips

  • Parker on points @ 5/1
  • Fight to go the distance - Yes @ 7/2

Parker felt the agonising fine margins of boxing in November 2022, when he withdrew in the fourth round of a fight with John Ryder due to a broken right hand. Not only did the withdrawal go down as a first career loss for Parker, but it also denied him both WBO interim super middleweight championship and a shot at full kingpin Saul ‘Canelo’ Alvarez.

A penny for Zach’s thoughts as he watched the iconic Mexican pick Ryder apart last May for the undisputed championship, a quartet of belts the Derbyshire man will feel he should have been fighting for. Parker himself would be out of the ring for 10 months following the injury, returning last September with a cobweb-clearing stoppage of journeyman Khalid Graidia.

Zeuge is a far different prospect and the biggest fight Parker will have been in for a good while. The German held the WBA title between 2016 and 2018. British fans will know him best for the fight in which he lost that championship, a fifth-round TKO at the hands of Liverpool’s Rocky Fielding in Offenburg.

Zeuge hasn’t been back to world level since, but he hasn’t lost since either. A European title win against Adan Silvera gave him a taste for titles once more. The rest of his fights have been over reduced six and eight round distance, which makes you wonder what his motivation is at this stage of the game. At 31 he is far from the scrapheap, but an ex-world champion chasing European belts and numerous warm-up fights does beg some questions.

Parker will make it his business to answer some of those for Zeuge. Intriguingly, this is the first time the German has fought outside his homeland. Birmingham is not exactly Parker’s backyard. He was born in Swadlincote, a mining town 12 miles outside Derby. But for a fighter who has never boxed outside Germany, it will feel like Parker’s entire family and friendship group are in the arena.

The motivation for Parker is clear. He has suffered the misfortune of a broken hand denying him the chance of a lifetime. Ten months of his career were sapped by the injury. Now he gets a chance on home turf to take out an ex-champion and reestablish his own credentials as a potential world level competitor.

Zeuge seems to lack that same motivation. One 12-rounder since 2018 doesn’t speak to a man battling to become a two-time world king. There is nothing in Zeuge’s locker that suggests he can trouble Parker. While the Brit is inexperienced at elite level, he might not quite need to reach those heights to win here. I feel his freshness, ambition and acumen will steer Parker home for a decision victory. That outcome is priced up at 5/1 and feels like the most likely result in a quality super middleweight affair.
