Parker vs Arnfield Predictions: Zach goes on the attack against Jack

World-ranked super middleweight Zach Parker returns to the squared circle this Saturday, July 20. The 30-year-old contender takes on former British title challenger Jack Arnfield at the Resorts World Arena In Birmingham. The 10-rounder is part of Queensberry’s Magnificent Seven card in the Second City. TNT Sports 1 will broadcast all of the action live.
Here are my Parker vs Arnfield predictions ahead of the big night.
Parker has perennially been there-or-thereabouts near the top of the super middleweight scene domestically. A former British champion, the Swadlincote man parlayed his success into a crack at John Ryder for the vacant WBO interim title.
Devilishly poor luck afflicted Parker on his big night. With the winner set to move on to a lucrative clash with Saul ‘Canelo’ Alvarez, Zach knew this was his big shot. But he failed to emerge for the fifth round after breaking his hand. Ryder would go on to face ‘Canelo’, losing a decision but netting a reported $2 million payday. Parker would endure almost a year out of the ring nursing the physical and emotional toll.
After getting his eye in by knocking out journeyman Khalid Graidia, Parker took on another top challenger. He had to climb off the canvas to win a decision against former WBA champion Tyron Zeuge. In the process, he added the biggest name yet to his growing resume. The victory also solidified Parker in the world rankings.
Arnfield is something of a curious case. Highly-talented in his heyday, the 35-year-old had two British title tilts and holds quality wins over Ryder and Brian Rose. But a drug dealing conviction led to the boxer spending five years out of the ring. A once-promising career appeared to have been snuffed out by devastatingly bad life choices.
But Arnfield stepped through the ropes again in May, outpointing journeyman Robbie Chapman. Now he has been given a big arena fight on just three weeks notice. This is a real shot at redemption for a fighter whose career looked over.
This is a massive ask considering Parker’s pedigree. But boxing as a sport has long hung its hat on providing a pathway for those struggling with outside-ring issues. Pugilism can be a haven for those whose lives have taken a wrong turn. Whatever the result on Saturday, it is to be hoped that the grand old sport can help Arnfield rebuild his life.
Arnfield comes in as a 7/1 underdog. The fact that the odds aren’t longer than that is a testament to how good a fighter he was before his lay-off. Parker is a 1/16 favourite while the draw is priced at 20/1.

Parker vs Arnfield Prediction
Arnfield’s redemption is a great story. A testament to how boxing can give wayward souls some much-needed hope and direction. But I don’t think this will extend to a Balboa-worthy shock victory.
Arnfield has never been stopped. But he is coming into this one having fought just six rounds in five years. Against a fighter who has been around world level during that fallow period, he could struggle to last. I think Parker takes this one by stoppage at 8/13.
