‘Pretty Boy’ Josh Kelly continues his climb towards a world title shot, in Newcastle on Saturday evening. We have previewed the light middle weight fight and given you our prediction.

Josh Kelly vs Gabriel Alberto Corzo Predictions

  • Josh Kelly to win on Points – 13/10

There are some massive names in the domestic light middleweight division, including Liam Smith, Chris Eubank Jr, Conor Benn and the newly un-retired Kell Brook.

These are all potential opponents for Sunderland’s Josh Kelly (13-1-1(7KO)) but first he must defend his WBO International title against unbeaten Argentine Gabriel Alberto Corzo (18-0-0(3KO)), before any such match up’s can be made.

29-year-old Kelly has responded well to his first career defeat to David Avanesyan and is unbeaten at his new fighting weight of 11 stone.

He captured the British title in his last bout, picking up a decision win over the dangerous Troy Williamson and is now eyeing much more high profile scraps in the near future.

Where and when is the fight taking place?

The fight is happening at the Vertu Motors Arena in Newcastle, on Saturday, July 15th and will be broadcast live and exclusively on DAZN in the UK. The event is a Kalle Sauerland promotion for Wasserman.  The show will start at around 7pm, with the main ring walk taking place at around 10pm.

Who’s the favourite?

Kelly is a huge 1/16 favourite to beat the Argentine, with Alberto Corzo the outsider at 17/2. If you fancy this one to be closer than the bookies, then the draw is available at 22/1.

What’s been said?

Kelly:

“There are levels to this game and especially so when you reach the top echelons, so Corzo will be swimming with the sharks on Saturday night. He will be a lamb to the slaughter.” “

Alberto Corzo:

“I am undefeated and I have come to the UK here to win. I’ve seen a few videos of him and I think hes a good boxer.

I am aware that I am the away fighter, but Kelly has lost before, and he can lose again. He has been knocked out before and so he can be knocked out again.”

Josh Kelly to win on Points – 13/10

‘Pretty Boy’ should have way too much skill and class for Corzo and has fought at a much higher level.

The Argentine is clearly game and being undefeated will possess massive self belief, that he can pull off a huge shock.

However, ‘El Terrible’ has never fought out of his country before and is entering a world of hurt at Newcastle Arena.

Kelly can punch but I’m taking the challenger to see the final bell here.
