Iglesias vs Agbeko Predictions: Cuban prospect can dominate

Unbeaten prospect Osleys Iglesias will face Sena Agbeko this Saturday, August 17. The super middleweight clash takes place at the Centre Videotron in Quebec, Canada. The bout will feature on the undercard of Christian Mbilli’s main event clash with Sergey Derevyanchenko.
Here are my Iglesias vs Agbeko predictions ahead of this 168-pound throwdown.
Iglesias vs Agbeko Tips
Iglesias is a serious talent and if you have never seen him compete, then Saturday is essential viewing for you. ‘El Tornado’ hails from Cuba, a long-established talent factory boasting one of the world’s finest amateur programmes.
Iglesias left the country and began his pro career in Germany in 2019. Cuba would not allow professional boxing until 2022, with those wishing to pursue life in the paid ranks had to defect. Like many Cubans, Iglesias was a quick learner in the professional game.
The Havana-born stylist has only been taken the distance once. The fact that victory came over 12 rounds in just his sixth professional outing is impressive enough. When you account for the fact Iglesias beat former world title challenger Isaac Chilemba at a stage when most prospects are fighting journeymen, the achievement becomes even more outstanding.
Knockout wins over the likes of Ezequiel Maderna and Marcelo Coceres have solidified his status as a world-level threat. In his most recent fight, Iglesias iced Evgeny Shvedenko in just one round. Ranked by The Ring, WBC and IBF; what Iglesias needs now is a challenge.
Agbeko might not be best-equipped to give him that challenge. The Ghanaian is technically a former world title challenger, having faced David Morrell for the spurious WBA ‘regular’ super middleweight belt. But the fact Agbeko folded in two rounds does not bode well.
There is not much in the way of ballast on Agbeko’s CV that suggests he can out-perform Iglesias. A win over unbeaten Isaiah Steen was solid, considering the fact his opponent would go on to beat Carlos Gongora. Winfred Harris Jr. was arguably going places before Agbeko beat him, too. But the Nashville-based Ghanaian doesn’t have that one win that makes you sit up and take notice.
Agbeko might not be sitting up by the end of this bout. Only the durable Chilemba has heard the final bell against Iglesias, while Agbeko has been stopped twice in his three losses. This fight looks well-set for a spectacular finish from the Cuban.
Agbeko is a 10/1 underdog here, a reflection of the fact he hasn’t won at this level before. Iglesias is 1/20, with his supremacy obvious in the market. A draw is 20/1 if you think Agbeko can run Iglesias close.

Iglesias vs Agbeko Prediction
The Cuban is the only sensible choice when selecting a victor. But 1/20 is a stretch to include in an acca, never mind as a single bet. The knockout is priced at 1/6 so if we want to find true value, we must get creative.
Agbeko’s knockout defeats have come in the second and fourth rounds. If he’s going, it tends to be quite early. Iglesias is a far better fighter than the two men who scored those stoppages. Meanwhile, ‘El Tornado’ has scored first-round KOs in six of his 11 victories.
I’m picking Iglesias to do it again here, with a first round knockout. You can get 7/1 for the Cuban to wrap things up nice and early.
