Belfast firecracker Lewis Crocker returns to the ring this Saturday, June 22 to take on Conah Walker. The bout takes place at the Resorts World Arena in Birmingham, live on DAZN. The WBA international welterweight championship will be on the line.

Here are my Crocker vs Walker predictions ahead of a juicy welterweight war.

Crocker vs Walker Tips

  • Crocker by stoppage @ 13/10
  • Fight to go the distance - No @ 20/21

Both men currently reside in the world rankings, making this bout a valuable opportunity to jockey for position on the road to championship belts. Walker is ranked fifth with the WBA, who have Crocker placed at 15. The latter is also positioned 12th in the WBO standings. Lots to play for in this one.

Not that either man needs much motivation. Neither Crocker nor Walker is shy inside that squared circle. Crocker’s last opponent was Jose Felix Jr, who made mincemeat of Gary Cully last year. ‘Croc’ needed just five rounds to dismantle the Mexican, who has been the distance with quality names like Sandor Martin.

Walker isn’t known to hang around either. He squelched unbeaten Lloyd Germain in his previous outing. In Walker’s last fight before that victory, he forced Cyrus Pattinson to withdraw in a bloody battle. Put it this way, there will be few backward steps taken in this one.

Crocker is two years younger at 27 and more is expected from him in the long-term. The 19-0 Belfast boxer was an accomplished schoolboy amateur and has carried that momentum into the professional circuit.

‘The Battle of Belfast’ with fellow hometowner Tyrone McKenna last December felt like a turning point. It was Crocker’s most-hyped contest by far with a tense, entertaining build-up. When fight night came though, ‘Croc’ proved himself levels above as he took a wide unanimous decision. Such dominance on the big stage did not go unnoticed. The fact McKenna retired in the aftermath spoke volumes, too.

Walker has been a little more under-the-radar, with losses to Samuel Antwi and Kane Gardner perhaps not helping. But the 29-year-old has steadied the ship with two stoppage victories that have put him right in the world-level mix. Walker is in for a tough task, but he is no stranger to being written off.

Crocker vs Walker Fight Odds

Crocker is 1/4 to get the job done in Birmingham, with an implied probability of 80% leaning towards a victory. Walker is up against it at 16/5 or 23.8% for you number-crunchers. The draw is available at 18/1. These two like swinging punches, so 5.3% seems a fair assessment of the chances of a stalemate.

I am going to go for what every fan is hoping for here and predict a tear-up. Open warfare is a strategy both have used in the past, but I feel it favours Crocker in this bout. So much so that I feel he will end matters early. I am predicting Crocker to win by stoppage at 13/10.
