Massey vs Garcia Predictions: Jack might only need ‘One Smack’

Jack Massey looks to make a statement this Saturday, November 29 as he takes on Ivan Gabriel Garcia. The cruiserweight contest takes place at the Vaillant Arena in Derby. The event airs on BBC Two and BBC iPlayer, headlined by Frazer Clarke vs Jeamie TKV live on BBC Two.
Read on for my Massey vs Garcia predictions.
Massey is considered a shoo-in at 1/16 while you can back your own South American Rocky story at 9/1. The draw is priced at 18/1.
Massey vs Garcia Fight Preview
This BBC platform is a well-deserved chance to impress the nation for Massey. The battling Derbyshire lad is well-known to boxing aficionados for his Commonwealth and European title reigns as well as his willingness to fight the very best.
Massey was most recently seen challenging IBF, The Ring and lineal cruiserweight champion Jai Opetaia. It ended in devastating fashion, but the fact the towel had to come in to save ‘One Smack’ was a testament to his everlasting bravery.
It was that bravery that led him to take a fight up at heavyweight with former WBO kingpin Joseph Parker. Given the fact the New Zealander would go on to beat Zhilei Zhang and Deontay Wilder, that 10-round points loss reflects well on Jack.
Massey’s only other defeat was to Richard Riakporhe for the British title. His conqueror had just beat future world champion Chris Billam-Smith and is now climbing the rankings at heavyweight. Make no mistake, you have to be among the very best to beat Jack Massey.
While his losses in brave battles stand out, there are excellent wins on Jack’s ledger. Massey outscored Isaac Chamberlain to win the European and Commonwealth titles and stopped Bilal Laggoune in three rounds to lift the IBO cruiserweight championship.
Now Massey gets the chance to strut his stuff in front of what is potentially one of the biggest British boxing TV audiences of recent years.
Odds correct at time of publishing.
In his own mind, Garcia will not be coming to play patsy. But at 10-4 with two stoppage losses, that is the role BOXXER will envision for the Argentine. ‘El Pequeno Hulk’ has been stopped by WBC Heavyweight Grand Prix finalist Kevin Ramirez and, most recently, unbeaten Leonardo Mosquea.
The latter was Garcia’s first fight outside of Argentina, taking the L on the road in France. Another fight against a local lad who will have home backing suggests Garcia is settling into a role. Having hit a ceiling as a domestic face in South America, the 29-year-old is off around the globe, getting his passport punched as well as his face.
You cannot begrudge Massey a soft touch. Let’s face it, if Frazer Clarke or Jeamie TKV pulls out of the main event at the last minute, we all know ‘One Smack’ would be the first fighter with his hand up to step in.

Massey vs Garcia Prediction
It might only take ‘One Smack’ this one. While Garcia gave Mosquea rounds, he appeared to self-destruct in two fights with Ramirez. Losing one by DQ through a headbutt and the other after two trips to the canvas, one wonders if the Argentine’s heart can match Massey’s.
A straightforward job for Massey at 1/16.
