Renaissance man Reece Bellotti defends his British and Commonwealth super featherweight titles against Levi Giles this Saturday, July 6. The bout takes place at the Copper Box Arena in London on the undercard of Johnny Fisher vs Alen Babic. DAZN will broadcast the bout.

Here are my Bellotti vs Giles predictions ahead of this super featherweight title showdown.

Bellotti vs Giles Tips

  • Bellotti on points @ 6/4
  • Fight to go the distance - Yes @ 10/11

Bellotti probably wondered if nights like this would ever come again. After showing early promise and enjoying a reign as Commonwealth champion, a 2018 knockout loss to Ryan Walsh sent his career veering off the rails. A run of five losses in seven fights risked Bellotti’s reputation. The vultures circled and an existence as a perennial B-side beckoned.

As is often the case in this sport, the numbers did not tell the whole story. Bellotti lost to some utterly superb names. He faced the likes of Jordan Gill and future (now former) world champion Raymond Ford. Bellotti may have lost, but these are the sort of fights a lot of boxers will not even entertain. Particularly when they are trying to arrest a slump. Bellotti could have rebuilt with some soft-touches but instead he pursued the best contenders available.

A Southern Area title win over Dean Dodge and a victory over the talented Youssef Khoumari set Bellotti on the right path. Again these were proper fights. Not for Bellotti, the idea of battering a journeyman to reset your record.

But the best was yet to come. An upset stoppage of highly-touted unbeaten prospect Aqib Fiaz propelled Bellotti to the front of the queue at domestic level. He then took Liam Dillon’s unbeaten record too to score the British and Commonwealth belts. Bellotti was back.

Giles has been on a comeback trail of his own. While the Grimsby man hasn’t endured as turbulent a time as Bellotti did a few years ago, he was beaten in a English title fight by Michael Gomez Jr. in March 2023. That split decision loss was controversial, with many concluding that Giles should have been crowned champion.

The 28-year-old has won twice since, earning another crack at the twin-titles of Bellotti. The Gomez defeat was his first 10-rounder but a November decision over Razaq Najib gave him more seasoning in distance fights. Now Giles goes into a 12-round bout for the first time in his 16-fight career.

The grand tradition of the British title occasionally brings us match-ups like this. The veteran ‘Bomber’ back on top, taking on the younger man looking to make a name. It’s a storied scrap and a very fun addition to the Fisher-Babic fight card.

Bellotti vs Giles Fight Odds

Bellotti is the 2/9 favourite here, a position he hasn’t held for a while now. Giles is priced at 7/2 while the draw is available at 16/1.

Bellotti vs Giles Prediction

Giles is a very capable fighter but Bellotti is in the form of his life. I believe his momentum will carry him through a decent test here.

6/4 is a fine price on a Bellotti decision and that is where I’m placing my vote at the end of this election week. The champion fought tooth and nail to get where he is and I don’t think he’s stopping just yet.
