Former Manchester United and Sunderland man Micky Gray has been speaking to Betfred TV about this season’s potential top-four race in the Premier League, and believes Liverpool are the ones to watch…

Micky Gray might have started his stellar career at Old Trafford but he believes Liverpool will finish in the top four – with United missing out.

“A top-six finish is now a reality,” Gray told Betfred TV reckoning that Erik ten Hag’s Reds have had a really poor start to the season.

Much travelled left-back or winger Gray, who made his name at Sunderland and earned three England caps, said United’s midfield has “no legs” and the tactics building from the back are hindering their counter-attacking style.

He said summer signing Mason Mount has been “very poor”  –  and believes Ten Hag is trying to bring in three or four new faces but his hands are tied.

Meanwhile at the other end of the East Lancs Road at Anfield, it’s the possible departure of Mo Salah to the Saudi Pro League that was the big talking point on the show.

“He is a god at Liverpool,” said Gray who added that he doesn’t think the Egyptian superstar striker wants to go, but next year when he’s 32, it might be looked at.

Gray went on to say he thinks Liverpool will get achieve a top 4 Premier League finish.

Liverpool are 4/6 with Betfred to land a top-four finish this season, while United are 5/4 along with Chelsea and Newcastle United to achieve the same feat.
