SunRisers Leeds vs Southern Brave Prediction: Be Brave and bet on 9/2 Jordan

It’s the fifth match of the 2026 men’s Hundred, and it starts at 2:30pm BST on Saturday, July 25 at Headingley between the SunRisers Leeds and the Southern Brave.

SunRisers Leeds

When the Sunrisers put 143 on the board against MI London, it looked like it could be a competitive total and even more so when English pair Will Jacks and Jason Roy were back in the hutch for 2 and 0 respectively in reply, before Nicholas Pooran and Sam Curran saw MI home with plenty to spare.

A problem they may have as the season progresses is they look a little top-heavy in terms of their batting. All of Ryan Rickleton, Mitch Marsh, Harry Brook and Zak Crawley would probably open if given the chance. The other day it was Rickleton (25) and Marsh (48), but it would be a surprise if Crawley, the skip, down at 4 last time out, doesn’t have a go at the top of the order at some stage.

Nathan Ellis and Brydon Carse were good with the ball, nice and economical, and took three wickets between them.

But this is a tough bunch to work out at the moment, other than to say they look better-suited to chasing.

Southern Brave

Like the Sunrisers, the Brave lost their opening match after being guilty of falling short of a par total batting first, getting only 135. At least they made a game of it though, with the Fire only getting home with two balls to spare.

We’re not convinced by Jamie Smith and Ben McKinnon at the top of the order.

The former looks better suited to batting at say five; the latter doesn’t boast numbers to suggest he should be playing here at all. He’s played 27 T20s and 7 games in the Hundred and is yet to get to 50 in any of them.

But they don’t really have anyone else in the squad who’s a natural opener, so expect to see that pair go again.

On the flipside, a middle-order of David Miller, Tristan Stubbs and Nikhil Chaudhary looks a good one, with Aussie all-rounder Chaudhary doing his best to keep the Sunrisers in the game with 19 off 12 and a couple of wickets.

They’ll also look a much better side when Marcus Stoinis is ready to go after missing the first match with injury.

Pitch & conditions

The average first innings score at Edgbaston is 141, with batting sometimes tough at the start, especially if those famous Leeds clouds are around.

Batting first is the way to go given there’s a 60%-win rate for the team defending, so the team winning the toss will probably want to go there and set a total.

It’s 10/11 the pair and that seems fair enough.

The Sunrisers (or Superchargers as they were last year) finished third last season, eventually being knocked out in the Eliminator when it was rained off, while the Brave were fourth, four points off the pace.

And it's certainly advantage the Superchargers, sorry, the Sunrisers, on the head-to-head record with four wins to the Brave’s one and 2=1 record in games at Leeds.

So if you’re desperate to play the main market, you’re probably better off with the hosts, who also have a 60% record in matches at home in The Hundred

Chris Jordan to be Southern Brave Top Bowler @ 9/2

Brave skipper Chris Jordan didn’t have a great day with the ball on Wednesday with his 13 balls going for 24 as the Fire wrapped up the match with some big-hitting at the death,

But everyone is allowed a bad day at the office and Jordan doesn’t have many of those. He’s taken 455 wickets from 440 T20 games and is second in the list of England’s top wicket-takers only behind his team-mate here, Adil Rashid.

Of the five frontline bowlers we think will bowl either 15 or 20 balls, only Jofra Archer (15.89 has a better strike rate than Jordan’s 16.1, with the likes of Luke Wood (17.5) Rashid (18.4) and Daniel Worrall (20) returning inferior numbers.

Not only does he also bowl at the death, always an advantage, but as skipper there’s little or no risk he’s going to under-bowl himself.

He’s also 9/2 when Archer is 3/1, and Rashid is 10/3, so a dead-heat involving Jordan would give us a bigger slice of the pie, while an outright win would be a really good result.
