Eels vs Rabbitohs Prediction: Duncan and the Bunnies to put Parra in their place

After demolishing the reigning champions last time out, the South Sydney Rabbitohs get the chance to bolster their NRL finals assault when they face the struggling Parramatta Eels at CommBank Stadium on Thursday (7:50pm local, 10:50am BST, Watch NRL).
The two fallen giants both retain outside hopes of a finals spot in 2026, but defeat this weekend would be a further blow to either side. My Storm vs Raiders predictions are below, complete with the latest team news and match odds from Betfred.

The fifth-placed Bunnies are Betfred’s favourites for this one at 8/13. That implies a 61.9% probability of an away win. The Eels are 6/4, while it’s 14/1 about the draw.
Team News
With Mitchell Moses back after Origin duty, Joash Papali’i drops to the bench and Ronald Volkman slides across to stand-off.
Harrison Edwards is set to give way to Tallyn Da Silva in the starting hooker role.
Wayne Bennett makes a single change to the huge win over the Broncos in the Round 15 fixture which was dedicated to the recently retired Jai Arrow.
In comes club captain Cameron Murray following his involved in Game II of the State of Origin, so Lachlan Hubner makes way at loose forward.
Latrell Mitchell was expected to be fit initially, but a calf injury will now keep him out for a month.
Rabbitohs by 1-12 @ 21/10
While Parra did come out on top in a tight encounter with the reeling Raiders prior to Origin II, they simply haven’t been a good team this season for the most part.
The Eels have won only three of their last 11 fixtures, and while the Rabbitohs are 1-3 since mid-May one has to believe that Souths will have too much for Jason Ryles’ side.
It might take a fair old tussle, so the 1-12 bracket looks a sound bet to me.

Tallis Duncan Anytime Tryscorer @ 11/8
Beyond the obvious call of Alex Johnston, who is a 2/5 anytime tryscorer pick on the back of 19 tries in 12 games this season, there are a few who offer potential value.
While he’s lining up in an unnatural role at centre right now, I fancy the chances of Tallis Duncan to cross.
He has five tries in 13 appearances this term, with all of them coming from his more orthodox second-row position. And I think there are more opportunities likely to be available to him in an outside-back slot.
