Raiders vs roosters

The Canberra Raiders’ long, hard slog away from the bottom end of the NRL Premiership continues on Friday when they host the high-flying Sydney Roosters at GIO Stadium (8pm local, 11am BST, Watch NRL).

The 2025 Minor Premiers beat the Cowboys last Sunday, but now they’re up against Trent Robinson’s big-time title contenders. My Raiders vs Roosters predictions follow below, with the latest team news and Betfred’s match odds.

Raiders vs Roosters Odds

Canberra are 11/8 to make it back-to-back wins, with the Roosters 4/6 to get back on the saddle after their defeat to the surging Storm. The draw is a 16/1 chance.

Team News

Seb Kris is out for the Raiders as he observes concussion protocols, so Jayden Brailey returns from his own head injury to play at loose forward. Daine Laurie switches from 13 to replace Kris in the outside backs.

Joe Roddy was set to make a comeback from his hand issue but Ricky Stuart hasn’t included him in the matchday 19.

Rugby League Odds

Mark Nawaqanitawase comes straight back in for the Roosters after recovering from an ankle issue.

Cody Ramsey is wiped out by an illness, while there’s a switch between Spencer Leniu and Lindsay Collins sees the latter return to the starting line-up.

Roosters by 1-12 @ 2/1

I’ve really not seen anything out of the Raiders this season to suggest they’re going to find that missing consistency.

They’ve conceded 28 or more points in eight of their 12 fixtures this term, and that attack which saw them score back-to-back-to-back tries with decent regularity in ’25 has looked nowhere near as potent.

Stuart has some work to do, and against a legit outfit like the Roosters the Raiders are likely to come unstuck.

Yes, Easts were done by the Storm last weekend, but Melbourne were always likely to come in with a big performance given their prior form. Here, they will surely have what it takes to leave with the points.

Price Boost: Kaeo Weekes & James Tedesco to Score a Try @ 3/1 (was 5/2)

Kaeo Weekes has eight tries in 12 appearances in 2026. James Tedesco’s six in 11 are in the same ballpark. In a game which ought to feature plenty of points, I like the look of both of them crossing at GIO.

Betfred’s Price Boost increases the value about the opposing full-backs each getting over the line, with the implied probability being dropped from 28.6% to 25%.
