Lucky 15 Tips: Fallen Angel to get season off to perfect start

There are five meetings across Britain and Ireland on Thursday, with three afternoon cards followed by two evening fixtures.

There's a mix of Flat and Jump racing, with afternoon action from York, Perth and Salisbury before attention switches to the evening cards from Fontwell and Clonmel. Below are my Lucky 15 selections for Thursday's action.

14:08 Salisbury - Mumayaz @ 2/1

MUMAYAZ travelled notably well when scoring very easily at Leicester just five days ago and a 4lb rise in the weights might not be enough to prevent the follow-up bid in the opening 6f apprentice handicap at Salisbury.

Tony Carroll's seven-year-old was having just his fourth run for the yard when defying a mark of 67 in the five-runner affair and the effort can be marked up as they ran a steady enough pace up top in a tactical little affair, but it didn't stop Mumayaz powering to victory. If he turns up here in a similar mood, he is going to take all the beating.

14:33 Perth - Inis Oirr @ 9/2

INIS OIRR had struggled to find his form since landing the Edinburgh National at Musselburgh in 2024 but Lucinda Russell & Michael Scudamore's inmate finally found his way back to the winner's circle when scoring over course and distance three weeks ago.

Just over two years ago, he was racing from a mark of 133, but he was so well treated off just 102 last time out that his winning turn had to be coming, and he did it in style too. He's up 6lb for that victory but is still chucked in on the pick of his old form and is entitled to win again.

15:30 York - Fallen Angel @ 10/3

See The Fire is a warm order for the Group 2 Middleton Fillies' Stakes at York and last year's winner is entitled to maximum respect, but FALLEN ANGEL will serve it right up to her if she's ready to rock on her return to action.

Karl Burke's star mare landed three Group 1s on the bounce last year when winning the Prix Rothschild at Deaville, the Matron Stakes at Leopardstown and the Sun Chariot Stakes at Newmarket.

Granted, she was below her best when midfield at Ascot in October but she has to be highly respected, dropping into Group 2 company on her return and it will take a good performance to beat her.

18:10 Fontwell - Motazzen @ 11/2

Brendan Powell will take the ride on MOTAZZEN in the 2m3f handicap hurdle at Fontwell and Henrietta Knight's charge has a big chance judged on his impressive 10-length victory at this course in March over 2m6f when last seen.

A former winner over this course and distance, he thrives around Fontwell and while an 8lb rise may be tough, he is entitled to still remain very competitive.

If all four selections won, at the quoted prices, a 50p Lucky 15 (total stake £7.50) would return around £221.09.
