Nottingham Forest vs Newcastle Prediction: Back Bruno G for a Goal Involvement

Dreams of winning the Europa League have fallen by the wayside for Nottingham Forest but they to pick themselves up quickly as Premier League safety is still not assured as they welcome in a Newcastle side on Sunday afternoon, who have had a very disappointing campaign.

Both still have something to play for as the Toon still have an outside chance of Europe. Sky Sports Main Event for this one with kick-off set for 2PM...

On Bank Holiday Monday, Forest went to Stamford Bridge and played Chelsea off the park. It was a fantastic display and backed them their shellacking of Sunderland. When it came to Thursday night however, it was a distinctly different kettle of fish as a lacklustre display at Villa Park saw their Europa League hopes come crashing down.

Morgan Gibbs-White is not expected to play after that clash with Chelsea’s goalkeeper in that match in west London. Murillo and Ola Aina are doubts with Ryan Yates potentially set to start to add some freshness to the middle of the park. If the club captain does indeed get the nod, I always like him for a card.

As for Eddie Howe’s men, both Tino Livramento and Lewis Miley have been ruled out for the rest of the season, with the former still hoping to get on the plane to the US for the World Cup. That means Kieran Trippier is likely to return at right-back.

Lots of the Geordie Faithful will want to see Nick Woltemade get his chance but after a 3-1 victory last time out, I would expect the front three to stay the same. The legs of Joe Willock has been key in their past two but Anthony Gordon will no doubt be pushing for a start. Will Osula has scored in three of his past four starts.

Newcastle are very slight favourites for this one, priced-up at 8/5 with the home side at 13/8. The draw comes in at 13/5.

BTTS and Over 2.5 Goals are both odds-on at 8/13 and 8/11 respectively. Forest’s Taiwo Awoniyi and Chris Wood are the top choices in the anytime scorer market at 8/5 and 13/8. Osula is the top pick for the visitors’ at 7/4 along with Yoane Wissa.

Bet 1 - Bruno Guimaraes to score or assist @ 21/10

Newcastle’s star man in the middle of the park was sorely missed during his absence following getting injured at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium. He’s scored ten times this campaign and been credited with an assist on nine occasions. His in swinging corners are first-rate and he’s even scored directly from them once this season!

He created Dan Burn’s goal last time out and in the previous match at St. James’ Park, his through ball for Osula was class. I think that 21/10 price to cover either a goal or an assist is really quite good.

Bet 2 - Elliot Anderson to receive a card @ 11/4

He’s a Newcastle fan through and through and that means you know he’ll be right up for it this afternoon.

He got booked in the reverse fixture and the combative midfielder has seen yellow on ten occasions already this season. The 11/4 odds suggest just under a one-in-four chance but it feels better than that to me.
