Football Bet of the Day: Pressure to produce goals in Friday’s La Liga clash

Friday's La Liga serving comes from Montilivi as Girona host Real Mallorca (20:00 BST, Premier Sports 2). Both teams are still fighting to maintain their top-flight status with just five games remaining.

The hosts have a four-point cushion while Mallorca sit just one point above the drop zone. This is an important fixture for both clubs and I think this is a good battle to pick out my Football Bet of the Day, which you can check out below.

Girona are 21/20 to claim a third straight win over Mallorca.

Only Real Betis (14) and Rayo Vallecano (12) have drawn more games than Girona (11) this term. The stalemate here is valued at 13/5.

Mallorca are 12/5 to snap their two-game winless run in La Liga.

Vladyslav Vanat was on the scoresheet in January's reverse fixture and he is the favourite to strike anytime on Friday at 1/1.

I think goals are the place to look for value in this contest, and my Bet of the Day is for Both Teams To Score & Under 3.5 Goals. This is priced at an alluring 2/1, which has an implied probability of 33.3%.

This selection offers value to punters because it has struck in seven of Girona's past 13 outings in La Liga. Michel's side are still fighting to secure their top-flight status and this is an opportunity to put some more distance between them and one of the teams sat lower in the table.

Recent form of just one win in four has put some pressure back onto the hosts in the battle for survival, but of course they are in a much safer position than the visitors. Mallorca recently put together a two-game winning streak but it was followed up by two matches without victory.

Los Piratas need to rediscover the formula for those victories as they are just one point above 18th-placed Sevilla. The good thing to note for Mallorca is that Friday's Bet of the Day parameters have landed in five of their past six fixtures in the top flight, including their two most recent away trips.

This has also been a winning selection in two of their previous three league meetings with Girona, including January's 2-1 defeat against the Blanquivermells at Son Moix.

With both teams still having work to do to ensure they are playing La Liga football next term, I can see the pressure producing goals at both ends in this clash, but not enough for a high-scoring spectacle.
