Football Bet of the Day: Deadly Deniz to score again

There are three games taking place in the Bundesliga on Sunday and one of them sees VfB Stuttgart host RB Leipzig at MHPArena (18:30 GMT, Prime Video). This is an interesting contest because the home side sit fourth and the visitors are fifth, and they both have the same points acquired from an identical record of wins, draws and losses.

It is from this clash that I have selected my Football Bet of the Day, which you can check out below.

VfB Stuttgart vs RB Leipzig Odds

Stuttgart are 11/8 to prevail here and make it four consecutive wins at home in the Bundesliga.

RB Leipzig won the reverse fixture 3-1 back in November and they are 6/4 to claim a third-straight victory in the top flight.

The hosts have drawn two of their previous three outings in the league, and the stalemate here is priced at 3/1.

Given that both sides are in good form and have identical records in the campaign so far, I think it is tough to call how this match will play out in terms of the result.

I am more confident in looking at individuals who can rise to the occasion, so my Bet of the Day comes from the goalscorer markets. If you have read any of my other columns on Betfred Insights over the past two years, you will know that I am a fan of Stuttgart striker Deniz Undav.

He had a very brief stint with Brighton & Hove Albion in the Premier League but in my opinion, he wasn't given much of a chance to show what he can do. Moving to the Bundesliga looks like it was the right call, however, as Undav has been scoring freely over the last three years, leading to him getting capped as a Germany international.

Undav has played a key role in Stuttgart's success during this period and in this season particularly, he has bagged 15 goals in 21 league appearances. He is the joint-second top scorer in the Bundesliga behind Bayern Munich's Harry Kane who has a whopping 30 goals to his name.

Sunday's fixture against Leipzig is huge in the race for the top four, which would seal a place in next season's Uefa Champions League. This is a contest that looks like it will be settled by individual quality, so Die Roten will be turning to Undav to inspire them to victory.

He is a prolific marksman at this level and his recent form shows that. The 29-year-old has scored in each of his past four appearances in the Bundesliga so he should be in a very confident mood against Leipzig.

Undav also has a good record against Die Roten Bullen, having scored four times in as many matches against the visitors.
