Norwich vs Sheffield Wednesday Prediction: Canaries to hammer Owls

After a season from hell, Sheffield Wednesday’s relegation to League 1 was confirmed on Sunday at the hands of their fiercest rivals. In truth, we’ve known since August that Wednesday would go down, given Dejphon Chansiri’s mis-handling of the club, so it was only a matter of time before relegation was confirmed.
Norwich City suffered a rare defeat under Philippe Clement to Birmingham City at the weekend, and will hope to bounce back here against Wednesday (19:45 GMT, Sky Sports+), with a comprehensive home win. Read on for my Norwich vs Sheffield Wednesday predictions.

Team News
Norwich have a lengthy injury list right now, with Jovon Makama the headline absentee along with Ante Crnac, Oscar Schwartau and Pelle Mattsson. With Makama out and Josh Sargent close to a move to Toronto, Mohamed Toure will once again to be trusted to lead the line - impressing since his January arrival.
Paris Magoma may replace Liam Gibbs, while Matthias Kvistgaarden is another option in the final third. Sam Field looks set to continue his partnership with Kenny McLean in the heart of midfield.
Gabriel Otegbayo will miss this one having been sent off against Sheffield United, while Liam Cooper will miss this one through injury and Tayo Adaramola was withdrawn with a thigh injury.
It leaves a small Wednesday squad incredibly light, with Pierce Charles, Max Lowe, Di'Shon Bernard, Gui Siqueira. Dominic Iorfa, Ernie Weaver, Nathaniel Chalobah and George Brown all still out. Emergency loanee Seny Dieng will play in goal again, with Liam Palmer and Cole McGhee a possible makeshift partnership at centre-back.
Norwich vs Sheffield Wednesday Predicted Lineups
- Norwich - Kovacevic; Fisher, McConville, Cordoba, Chrisene; McLean, Field; Slimane, Kvistgaarden, Ahmed; Toure
- Sheffield Wednesday - Dieng; Fusire, Palmer, McGhee, Johnson; Ingelsson, Heskey; McNeill, Lowe, Ndala; Yates
Norwich vs Sheffield Wednesday Odds
Norwich are the massive favourites here, priced at 1/6 to get the three points, while Sheffield Wednesday are 14/1 to win their second game of the season. A draw is 11/2, over 2.5 goals is 1/2 and BTTS is 6/5.
Norwich vs Sheffield Wednesday Stats
- Norwich have won eight of their last 10
- Sheffield Wednesday have lost 11 on the bounce
Norwich to win to nil @ 4/5
A very straightforward pick to get us going here, even though Sheffield Wednesday have managed to score in their last two Championship matches. Prior to that, the Owls hadn’t scored since Boxing Day, a run which almost lasted 1000 minutes in total - and they have only found the net 20 times this season.
Norwich should be able to find the win and keep a clean sheet, given the disparity between the two teams. I’m not worried about their recent defeat to Birmingham - the Canaries have been superb under Philippe Clement and have won eight of their last 10 fixtures. Should be easy on Wednesday night for the hosts.

Norwich to win with -4 handicap @ 7/1
Sheffield Wednesday deserve massive credit for this term for not being blown away in too many Championship matches, but I think that could change in midweek. Norwich have a point to prove, but this is all about the opposition for me.
Wednesday have been weak this season, but the current injury and suspension issues means I think we can argue this will be the worst team they field this season. The makeshift centre-back duo of 34-year-old Palmer, usually a right-back, and McGhee, who has six Championship appearances to his name, is weak, while Reece Johnson is also lacking experience at left-back.
I think Norwich will fancy their chances of racking up a big score here, so let’s go for the -4 handicap at a decent price of 7/1.
