Aston Villa vs Brighton Prediction: Villans to bounce back in style

Aston Villa are coming under pressure in the race for the Champions League spots with Manchester United and Chelsea closing the gap in recent weeks, as Unai Emery’s men have hit a slightly rough patch.
The Villans will hope to get back to winning ways as they host Brighton and Hove Albion on Wednesday night (19:30 GMT, TNT Sports 3), and below you can find my Aston Villa vs Brighton predictions.

Team News
Aston Villa are in the middle of a bit of an injury crisis right now, especially in midfield where Youri Tielemans (ankle), John McGinn and Boubacar Kamara (both knee) all remain out of action.
Ollie Watkins now has competition from Tammy Abraham in the number nine position, with Morgan Rogers set to star again in the number 10 position. Lucas Digne is likely to be replaced by Ian Maatsen after poor recent displays, with Pau Torres an option to feature at centre-back in place of Tyrone Mings.
Brighton’s 17-year-old winger Harry Howell was handed his first Premier League start in the 1-0 defeat to Crystal Palace and it will be interesting to see whether Fabian Hurzeler sticks with the youngster, or puts Yankuba Minteh or Diego Gomez into the starting XI.
Yasin Ayari has a shoulder issue and Solly March and Adam Webster are also out, while James Milner could match Gareth Barry’s all-time Premier League appearance record of 653 games if he features against Aston Villa.
Aston Villa vs Brighton Predicted Lineups
- Aston Villa - Martinez; Cash, Konsa, Torres, Maatsen; Onana, Luiz; Sancho, Rogers, Buendia; Watkins
- Brighton - Verbruggen; Kadioglu, Dunk, Boscagli, De Cuyper; Gomez, Baleba, Gross; Minteh, Welbeck, Mitoma
Aston Villa are the 19/20 favourites to win this game, giving them an implied win probability of 51% for this home tie. Brighton are 11/4 for the win, while a draw can be backed at the same price.
BTTS is 4/6, over 2.5 goals is 4/5 and Watkins is the favourite to score first at 9/2.
Aston Villa vs Brighton Stats
- Brighton are winless in five in the Premier League
- Villa have lost one of their last five in all competitions
- Morgan Rogers has got 13 goal contributions in the PL
Aston Villa to win @ 19/20
Aston Villa have only won one of their last five games in the Premier League, but that does perhaps paint a negative picture of their 2026 so far, which has also included an FA Cup win over Tottenham Hotspur and two Europa League victories against Fenerbahce and RB Salzburg respectively.
A Premier League win is much-needed however, and Brighton are relatively kind opposition having only won two away games out of 12 this term. The Seagulls are winless in five in the Premier League and I can’t see them stopping that rot here, against Emery’s men who have won eight out of 12 at Villa Park in the league.

Price Boost - Morgan Rogers to score and assist @ 16/1
With eight goals and five assists in the league this season, Rogers has been one of the most influential midfielders in the top flight. Villa desperately need him to return to his best to get them that top-four finish and I think he can have a big impact on this fixture.
He scored at Bournemouth last time out and has one goal and one assist in his last three league games, while Brighton haven’t been able to keep a clean sheet in six. I think Rogers might just have a big impact on Wednesday night - at a massive price.
