Aston Villa vs Brentford Prediction: Bees to feel the sting at Villa Park

Aston Villa recorded a valuable victory at Newcastle United in the Premier League last weekend and they will look to build on that as they welcome Brentford to Villa Park on Sunday (14:00 GMT, Sky Sports Premier League).
The Bees are on a two-game losing streak in the top flight and will hope to turn their fortunes around in the West Midlands. Read on for my Aston Villa vs Brentford predictions, aided by the latest match odds and team news.

Team News
Villa are missing key midfielders Boubacar Kamara (knee) and Youri Tielemans (ankle) due to injury, with the former out for the rest of the campaign.
Unai Emery has acted by making moves in the transfer market. Douglas Luiz has returned to the club 18 months after his departure for Juventus, having spent the first half of the season on loan at Nottingham Forest.
Top scorer Ollie Watkins could face a spell on the sidelines with a hamstring issue, so Tammy Abraham is set to make his second debut for the Villans after signing permanently from Besiktas.
John McGinn and Ross Barkley (both knee) are also confined to the treatment room.
Brentford duo Mikkel Damsgaard and Kristoffer Ajer picked up injuries in last week's defeat against Nottingham Forest and both will need to be monitored ahead of Sunday.
Josh Dasilva, Antoni Milambo and Fabio Carvalho are ruled out due to knee problems.
Aston Villa vs Brentford Predicted Lineups
- Aston Villa: Martinez; Cash, Konsa, Torres, Maatsen; Onana, Luiz; Sancho, Rogers, Buendia; Abraham
- Brentford: Kelleher; Kayode, Van den Berg, Collins, Henry; Yarmoliuk, Janelt; Jensen, Ouattara, Schade; Thiago
Villa have won eight of their 11 home games in the league and they are 11/10 (implied probability of 47.6%) to emerge victorious.
The draw is priced at 5/2, which is the same price for a Brentford win. The Bees have won two of their previous four fixtures in the top flight.
Villa's past three Premier League matches have produced under 2.5 goals, which is marketed at 1/1.
Aston Villa vs Brentford Stats
- Aston Villa have won 8 of their 11 home games in the PL
- Brentford have lost 2 games on the bounce
- Morgan Rogers has 7 league goals this season
Match Result - Aston Villa @ 11/10
After suffering a rare home defeat against Everton a couple of weeks ago, Villa responded with an impressive victory at Newcastle. With Arsenal dropping points again, the Villans are right back in the title race, with four points separating them from the Gunners.
Emery's men will continue to try and put pressure on Arsenal and they should fancy themselves to take three points against Brentford as the Bees have lost their last two matches in the top flight.
As well as this, Keith Andrews' side have lost eight of their 11 road trips in the Premier League this term. Up against Villa's strong home record, it is hard to see the visitors stopping the home team.
Villa also have a bone to pick with Brentford as they were beaten 1-0 by the Bees in August and they will likely be determined to avenge that defeat here.

Anytime Goalscorer - Morgan Rogers @ 15/8
With Watkins set to miss out on Sunday, goalscoring responsibility may fall to new arrival Abraham but it may take him a week or two to settle back into the club.
Morgan Rogers is Villa's next highest scorer in the league with seven goals and as arguably their best player, I think he will step up and deliver the goods on Sunday.
The attacking midfielder has gone six games without a goal in the top flight after netting back-to-back braces against West Ham United and Manchester United in December.
The England international has interestingly bagged braces in the last three league games in which he has scored. I think he will be primed to get back on the scoresheet against a Brentford side whose confidence has taken a hit in recent weeks.
