Football bet of the day

For Friday’s Football Bet of the Day, we head over to Italy for a Serie A game with plenty of narrative.

Roma legend Daniele de Rossi is now in charge of Genoa, and he would love to get one over on his fierce rivals Lazio as he returns to Stadio Olimpico. This one kicks off at 19:45 GMT, and is the feature of Friday’s Football Bet of the Day.

Lazio vs Genoa Odds

Lazio’s recent regression has been deeply concerning, and caused manager Maurizio Sarri to take a couple of potshots at the board after the 0-0 draw with Lecce. "Players told me they want to leave because they don't see any ambition in the club,” he told the gathered press, and that spells trouble for a side that is sliding down the Serie A table.

Lazio have only won one out of seven, and that’s seen them slip down to ninth in the table, and although the form is a concern - they aren’t in serious danger of relegation this term. The serious concern is the departure of some key players, with Valentin Castellanos having joined West Ham and Matteo Guendouzi departing for Fenerbahce.

As Sarri alluded to, other players are now looking for the exit door, and that type of commitment isn’t what you want midway through a campaign that has already taken a sour turn. Eleven points off the European spots, this season already looks to be all-but-over for Lazio, so I’m concerned about the further demise we could be about to see.

Football Bet of the Day Stats

  • Genoa are unbeaten in 2026
  • Lazio have won one of their last seven

On a positive note, they have won seven of their last nine home games against Genoa, and they beat them 3-0 in September, but I think things have changed since then. Genoa have started 2026 in superb form, unlike their hosts.

They are unbeaten in five since the turn of the year, and there has been obvious improvement since De Rossi joined the club in early November. He’s only lost four of his 13 games in charge and have now pulled six points clear of the bottom three.

Last week they came from 2-0 down at home to beat Bologna 3-2 and secure another vital three points in their survival bid, and that momentum should serve them well heading into this game. I think if we take the draw out of the equation by playing the Draw No Bet market - Genoa are a massive price to go to the Italian capital and win.

Let’s go with the form book, and back Genoa to take all three points on Friday night.
