Football Bet of the Day: Zan the man for Swansea

Swansea City will look to build on the point they earned at home to Birmingham City in the Championship when they host Blackburn Rovers at the Swansea.com Stadium on Tuesday (19:45 GMT, Sky Sports+).

The Swans host a Rovers side who have won just one of their last 11 matches in the second tier. It is from this contest that I have picked out my Football Bet of the Day, which you will find below.

Swansea have won four of their last five home games in the Championship and they are 21/20 to triumph over Blackburn.

Two of Rovers' past three away trips in the league have ended in a stalemate, with the draw marketed at 11/5. The visitors are 11/4 to claim their first away victory since November.

Four of Swansea's previous five wins in the second tier have seen them keep a clean sheet, and they are 11/5 to be the only team to score on Tuesday.

A result-based selection in Swansea's favour was tempting for my Bet of the Day selection, but instead I have turned to the goalscorer markets. If you have read any of my content on this website, then you will know that I regularly like to pick out goalscorer bets.

On this occasion I am turning to Swansea's top scorer, Zan Vipotnik, whose goal against Birmingham on Saturday has made him joint-top scorer in the division alongside Adam Armstrong of Southampton with 11 goals.

The Slovenian striker is proving to be one of the best free transfers the Welsh club have ever made as he is established himself as one of the best forwards in the Championship.

After ending a two-game drought in the league without the goal, the 23-year-old opened proceedings against Birmingham on Saturday and this should give him a huge confidence boost ahead of this midweek clash against Blackburn.

The Slovenia international will be aware of how disappointing Rovers' form has been in recent months. Blackburn have drawn six of their past 11 fixtures in the Championship.

Valerien Ismael's side were comfortably beaten 3-0 at Ipswich Town last time out, and given Swansea's solid home form right now, I predict another tough away trip awaits them.

The onus will be on the Swans to dictate the tempo of this match, and after failing to put the game to bed against Birmingham last time out, they will want to show they can be ruthless on this occasion.

Vipotnik is their best finisher so the surrounding players will always look for him when they are in the final third. The attacker has four goals across his past seven appearances in the second tier and after failing to score against Rovers in the reverse fixture back in September, I suspect he will be determined to get himself on the scoresheet here.

Blackburn's defence is looking particularly vulnerable at the moment as they have conceded seven goals in their last three Championship games, which does not bode well for them when they are coming up against the division's leading marksman.
