Football Bet of the Day: No stuttering for Stuttgart on Sunday

VfB Stuttgart will be hoping to land a third successive Bundesliga victory on Sunday when they welcome Union Berlin to MHP Arena (14:30 GMT, Prime Video). The hosts have had a brilliant start to 2026 with victories over European rivals Bayer Leverkusen and Eintracht Frankfurt.

Union are unbeaten in four league games heading into this one and will look to cause an upset. It is from this game that I have picked out my Football Bet of the Day, which you can read about below.

Stuttgart vs Union Berlin Odds

Stuttgart are the 4/6 favourites to win this battle and extend their good run of form.

With successive draws heading into this for Union, the stalemate might appeal at 11/4. The visitors are 4/1 to emerge victorious.

Stuttgart forward Deniz Undav has scored three goals across his last four league matches and he is the joint-favourite to score anytime at 5/4.

I must admit I was tempted to pick out the German to score as the Bet of the Day but with the form his team are in, I think a result-based selection is the way to go here.

Stuttgart and both teams to score - Yes stands out for me at 23/10 because it has been a successful bet in five of their 10 victories in the Bundesliga this season, including their most recent triumphs against Leverkusen and Frankfurt.

Die Roten have scored seven goals across those last two matches and now their tally for the season has bypassed the 30-goal mark, so they are now performing on a level similar to the teams around them competing for the most prestigious European places.

BTTS - Yes has also been a winning selection on its own in 10 of Stuttgart's 17 top-flight appearances to date in 2025/26 and while this has been a more common trend on their travels, Union can play their part in this contest.

Five of the visitors' previous six appearances in the league have seen both teams get on the scoresheet, including their latest two outings to kick off 2026. In this run, two of those games have come on the road, with the last match against Augsburg being included.

It's also worth noting that both teams found the net when they met on the opening day of the season in the reverse fixture, which Union won 2-1.

And for all of Stuttgart's recent success going forward, they are still having issues at the back. Their 25 goals conceded is the highest of any team currently inside the top six (at the time of writing) and this will likely present Union with some opportunities.

They are four games unbeaten after all, and they will look to keep that run going on Sunday. But it is because of their recent stalemates against Augsburg and Mainz, two teams struggling towards the bottom of the table that strengthens Stuttgart's credentials to go out and win this clash.

Especially after the home side have taken down two of their European-chasing rivals in the past week. Therefore, I am backing them to round off an excellent week with another victory.
