Melbourne City vs Brisbane Roar Prediction: 9/4 tip for cagey affair at AAMI Park

Melbourne City were expected to contend at the top end of the A-League this season, just as they did last term, but a disappointing start to the campaign sees them eighth of 12 after 11 games. Aurelio Vidmar’s side have only won three of those matches and are under pressure to start getting results as they host Brisbane Roar on Tuesday (08:00 kick-off, live on TNT Sports 1).
Here I pick out the best bets, my Melbourne City vs Brisbane Roar predictions, along with the latest match odds and team news, for what should be an intriguing affair.

Team News
Melbourne City will be without Takeshi Kanamori and Kavian Rahmani, who both picked up injuries late on against Sydney FC on Saturday, but youngsters Alessandro Lopane and Lawrence Wong return to the squad following lengthy absences.
Ben Mazzeo and Harry Shillington have both also been called up to the extended squad.
For Brisbane Roar, they will be without Lucas Herrington who has departed the club for the Colorado Rapids. Midfielder Emmett Shaw could make his debut.
Melbourne City vs Brisbane Roar Odds
Melbourne have been installed as 4/5 favourites for the victory, while Brisbane Roar are on offer at 16/5 and the draw is available at 23/10.
Over 2.5 goals can be backed at 1/1, while both teams to score is priced at 10/11 and it is 2/1 for over 1.5 goals in the first half.
Under 2.5 Goals @ 8/11
Scoring goals has been a major issue for Melbourne City, who have netted just 11 times in 11 A-League games and four of those came in one win over Perth Glory.
City have failed to find the net in four of their last nine matches, including a goalless draw with Brisbane back in October.
Melbourne welcome back the same opponents for this reverse fixture and a similarly cagey clash looks likely.
Brisbane have the second-best defensive record in the division, conceding just nine times, but they have also scored just 11 goals in as many matches.
With both teams struggling in front of goal, under 2.5 goals looks like the best betting route to go down, with the 8/11 odds implying a 57.9% probability.

Justin Vidic Anytime Goalscorer @ 13/5
Young forward Justin Vidic has been a real standout for Brisbane since his offseason acquisition from the Newcastle Jets.
The 21-year-old has played a hand in five of Brisbane’s 11 goals, scoring three and registering two assists.
Vidic looks likely to be at the centre of any success that the Roar have and looks a tempting price to get on the scoresheet in this clash.
