Lucky 15 Tips: Leafy Lingfield’s the place to be on Wednesday

New Year's Eve - and four scheduled meetings in the UK and Ireland to end 2025 with a flourish. We're heading to leafy Lingfield for our final Lucky 15 tips of the year, with an eight-race programme that kicks in at 12:00.
A personal observation about the sporting year of 2025 will follow at the end of the piece, if I might beg your indulgence, but in the meantime a million 'thank-yous' for engaging with the column, indeed all our pieces, throughout 2025.
It's always terrific fun to be involved and even more so when it's clear we're communicating with fans as passionate and involved as we are. Have a cracking end to the year and a here's to a brilliant 2026. Slightly prematurely then - Happy New Year everyone!
Lucky 15 Tips - Wednesday, December 31
Lingfield
- 12:00 - Eternity's Sunrise @ 2/1
- 12:30 - Hen Party @ 7/4
- 14:00 - Tyrrhenian Sea @ 5/6
- 15:00 - Gaiety Musical @ 9/4
*Odds correct as of the time of publication
12:00 - Eternity's Sunrise @ 2/1
Two-year-old gelding trained by Dylan Cunha at Newmarket and owned by him, too. Eternity's Sunrise has had the one spin so far, a running-on third at Wolves 37 days ago with the Racing Post attaching the following to the race-reader's report - 'eye-catching.'
His trainer has had two winners from ten runners in the last 14 days and Jason Watson, on board last time, renews the partnership. Might just be quite useful in the context of today's heat.
12:30 - Hen Party @ 7/4
The mighty Oisin Murphy climbs aboard this two-year-old Mehmas filly for what will be start number six, making her the most experienced runner in this field of novices.
Reasonable level of form so far, and knocking loudly on the door of late with placed efforts in her last three spins, the most recent of which was here 16 days ago.
Hen Party looks to open her account this afternoon for trainer Ed Dunlop and with the redoubtable Murphy engaged this could be the proverbial day. Looks like a winner waiting to happen - hopefully this afternoon!
14:00 - Tyrrhenian Sea @ 5/6
Very obvious claims now for this Roger Varian-trained seven-year-old Dark Angel gelding, a course-and-distance scorer and second in this very Listed contest last year.
Tyrrhenian Sea will be ridden by Jack Michell and the horse ran well in similar company when last seen at the start of December, 3.25l adrift of the winner Holloway Boy.
That was his first outing since June, and he should be cherry-ripe for this now. Can add to his five career wins so far from 21 starts.
15:00 - Gaiety Musical @ 9/4
Fillies go 7f in this Class 4 handicap for three-year-olds and upwards.
The selection is Gaiety Musical, a four-year-old daughter of Gregorian looking for career win number five from what will be 28 starts. Dave Evans trains, and the prolific Billy Loughnane has the riding assignment.
She's had a little break of 35 days since finishing a close second at Chelmsford, with Billy on board for what was the very first time. It's perhaps significant that he renews acquaintance with the filly this afternoon and he could hardly be in better form right now; motoring along at around a 29% strike-rate over the last fortnight.
He's brilliant, the filly is very consistent, and she's bang on her last winning mark - 78.
If all four of our selections won, today's notional 50p win Lucky 15, at the prices indicated (they can of course fluctuate), would return around £89 for a £7.50 total stake.
As mentioned in the introduction - can I share something with you, in the spirit of this inspiring season-of-goodwill, and as we get set to usher out the old year?? 2025 marked the 30th anniversary of a league championship success for a cricket club I was lucky enough to be a part of.
We met up in the summer to celebrate, a players' reunion after many years, decades even, apart. It was glorious, heart-warming, and easily the best thing that's happened in MY sporting year.
We know it might not be everyone's cup of tea, but playing and/or watching sport at every level has the ability to move, enthral, forge lifelong friendships, and is a vehicle for a great deal that's uplifting in our often challenging world.
Big shout out to Bollington CC, my old teammates, and I’m wondering - what's YOUR sporting highlight for 2025? Here's to many more in the months to come, at whatever level (the more personal, the better); please take care, and all the very best from us here at Betfred.
