Lucky 15 Tips: Haydock is a Nifty place to be on Saturday

Wonderful Saturday fare as per, and we've got Ascot's main events plus two from Haydock nicely covered in our ITV piece.
Lots of Betfred-sponsored mileage in the other five races on the Haydock card so it's to the North-West I'm motoring for Saturday's Lucky 15 tips. Not many sleeps until you-know-when, and we're certainly going out with a bang courtesy of some absorbing contests.
Lucky 15 Tips - Saturday, December 20

- 13:30 - My Noble Lord @ 4/1

*Odds correct as of the time of publication
11:45 - Super Freddie @ 7/2
Betfred's legendary Nifty 50 numbers draw is immortalised in the race title, as conditional jockeys compete in a 2m 3f Class 4 handicap hurdle.
Our pick is Super Freddie, a four-year-old gelding for in-form training combo Nige and Willy Twiston-Davies (29% strike-rate in the last 14 days).
'Freddie' has had three spins so far - a Donny bumper back in January (unplaced), then a break until two hurdle races in October, then November, showing promise to be second and third at first Bangor, then Ludlow.
He's been given a mark of 111 for this handicap debut which looks reasonable, and I've been impressed by claimer Toby McCain-Mitchell, who by my reckoning has ridden 17 winners since the start of the campaign in April.
12:55 - Joltin N Jiving @ 6/1
Class 3 handicap hurdle now, over the minimum trip.
Trainer Donald McCain saddles Joltin N Jiving, a five-year-old gelding with Brian Hughes up, and with one win from his four runs to date.
He's also appeared in two points, winning the final one comfortably, and was last seen on seasonal reappearance 32 days ago at Kelso running a nice race to be second, 7.5l adrift of one of Micky Hammond's that was notching up a double.
That will hopefully have put him spot-on for this and as for assistance in the saddle they don't come much better than Hughesie, a three-time champion jockey let's not forget, and a potent force down the years with the McCain yard.
13:30 - My Noble Lord @ 4/1
Class 3 handicap chase now, over just in excess of 2m.
The glittering green and gold hoops of JP McManus will be carried by four-year-old Noble Mission gelding My Noble Lord, trained by Ollie Greenall and Josh Guerriero, for whom this could be a big day.
The selection is five-from-15 all told, and on seasonal reappearance 24 days ago at Wetherby (not dissimilar to Haydock in layout), he finished second, running on, in a slightly lower grade.
That looked like a fine reintroduction and he's entitled to be straighter this afternoon. Only been raised a pound to a mark of 117, too. Craig Nichol, another for whom this could be a day to remember, has the riding assignment.
15:15 - Gwennie May Star @ 6/1
The lucky last is a Class 3 stayers' handicap hurdle over 3m-and-change.
The selection is a five-year-old French-bred gelding with three wins to date from 13 starts; and one of those wins was happily last time out, at Warwick, 31 days ago.
In a Class 4, off a mark of 107 (and his rider claimed 5lb on top of that), Gwennie May Star prevailed by a mere nose but beat a previous winner into second.
Rising force Olly Murphy trains, jockey Lewis Saunders again claims his 5lb, and the horse has only been put up 2lb in the handicap given the exceptionally tight margin of that last-time-out victory. Lovely racing weight of 10st 7lb (with that claim to be taken off, too).
If all four of our selections won, today's notional 50p win Lucky 15, at the prices indicated (they can of course fluctuate), would return around £1,055 for a £7.50 total stake.
