Brighton vs West Ham Prediction: Seagulls to deliver a response

Brighton & Hove Albion were left bitterly disappointed as they threw away a two-goal lead in the Premier League on Wednesday to lose at home to Aston Villa. The Seagulls are in action at the Amex again on Sunday (14:00 GMT, Sky Sports Main Event) as they welcome West Ham United.
The Irons picked up a point at Manchester United on Thursday but are now winless in three matches. Below you can find my Brighton vs West Ham predictions, featuring the latest team news and match odds.

Team News
Brighton suffered a second blow in midweek as forward Stefanos Tzimas was forced off with a knee injury and it is feared that he will be set for a lengthy spell on the sidelines.
Veteran Danny Welbeck should come back into the fold as a result, having netted seven goals in the league already this season. He has also struck six goals against West Ham in the Premier League - his joint-highest return against a single club.
Yasin Ayari (muscle) has a chance of making the squad on Sunday, but Kaoru Mitoma (ankle), Georginio Rutter (head) and Tommy Watson (unspecified) remain doubtful to feature.
James Milner (muscle), Solly March and Adam Webster (both knee) remain sidelined.
Lucas Paqueta is back available for West Ham following his suspension and he may be restored to the side that takes to the field in Sussex.
Igor Julio is unavailable to feature as per the terms of his loan deal from Brighton. Crysencio Summerville is carrying a knock and is unlikely to be involved here.
Lukasz Fabianski (back) and Oliver Scarles (shoulder) are ruled out for this one.
Brighton vs West Ham Predicted Lineups
- Brighton: Verbruggen; Veltman, Dunk, Van Hecke, Kadioglu; Baleba, Ayari; Minteh, Gruda, De Cuyper; Welbeck
- West Ham: Areola; Wan-Bissaka, Todibo, Mavropanos, Diouf; Potts, Magassa; Bowen, Paqueta, Fernandes; Wilson
Brighton have won three of their last five games in the top flight and they are 8/15 to come out on top. Twelve of their past 14 home games in the Premier League have seen both teams find the net - so combining BTTS - Yes to the selection generates a 15/8 (implied probability of 34.8%) price.
BTTS - Yes on its own is valued at 8/11.
West Ham have drawn two of their past three outings in this competition and the stalemate is marketed at 10/3. The Hammers are 5/1 to come away with the victory, which they have only accomplished once on the road in seven attempts.
Brighton vs West Ham Stats
- Brighton have won four of their seven home league games
- Danny Welbeck (BRI) has seven goals in the league this term
Match Result & BTTS - Brighton & Yes @ 15/8
Wednesday's loss to Villa is probably going to give Brighton a kick up the backside. Throwing away a lead like they did is sinful in football and it made apparent what the Seagulls still need to work on if they wish to move higher up the table.
I'd say it's fortunate that their next game is at home as it gives them a chance to respond instantly, and it should help that it comes against a team who have just one win on the road in 2025/26.
Villa were the first side to go to the Amex and win in the league this season, which is more an indication of their quality than anything else. The Villans are a much stronger side than West Ham, who make the trip here without a win in their previous three appearances.
Brighton have an extra day of rest and preparation over the Irons which I think will play a part here, so I am backing the Seagulls to get back to winning ways, but given how frequent BTTS - Yes is at this stadium, it would be foolish not to include that with the selection.

Anytime Goalscorer - Danny Welbeck @ 21/20
Welbeck is expected to come back into the team on Sunday and he will be fired up to help his team get back on track. The veteran is still showcasing his abilities at this level with seven goals already in the league.
Four of his goals have come at the Amex so this is his preferred hunting ground. The former Manchester United and Arsenal man has scored in three of the last four league games here heading into Sunday, so he is likely going to be a live wire when the Hammers come to town.
The forward has six goals against them in the Premier League, which is the joint-highest return against a single club in this competition - the others being Chelsea, Man United and Wolves.
