Football Bet of the Day: More goals at Portman Road?

We’ve got a whole lot of football action coming our way on Saturday, and after a 4/1 winner on Wednesday thanks to Kylian Mbappe, we are hoping for another winner at the price on Saturday.
Our Football Bet of the Day takes us to Portman Road in the Championship, where we have a blockbuster clash between pre-season title favourites Ipswich Town and current runaway leaders Coventry City (15:00 GMT).
Football Bet of the Day - Saturday, December 6
- Coventry to beat Ipswich and BTTS @ 4/1

Coventry are the 7/4 outsiders to win this game, which is a slight surprise given the dominance they have shown in the Championship. They’ve enjoyed the second-best start after 18 games to a Championship season (since 2004/05), racking up an incredible 43 points out of a possible 54.
Against Charlton they racked up their 50th goal of the season, which is another record-breaking stat. Frank Lampard celebrated one year in charge last week, and in that time he has improved several individuals, but also given the side a real spark going forward.
Top scorer Brandon Thomas-Asante is out for six weeks with a hamstring issue, but Haji Wright should return to the matchday squad here to boost their attacking ranks. What has been impressive has been the way players have stepped up when others have been out.
Jack Rudoni has missed two months of football but Thomas-Asante took on the mantle of the goalscoring number 10. More recently, Josh Eccles has scored twice when BTA was out, while Ellis Simms has been superb in Wright’s absence, scoring five goals in his last three.
Football Bet of the Day Stats
- Coventry have won their last five league games
- Coventry have scored 50 league goals
- Coventry have kept one clean sheet in eight
It gives me the belief that the Sky Blues, who currently sit 10 points clear at the top, can go to Portman Road and win. Ipswich have the best squad on paper in the league, but Kieran McKenna has struggled to get them going at times this season, and they currently sit seventh, five points from second-placed Middlesbrough.
The Tractor Boys rescued a point at their rescheduled game against Blackburn Rovers in midweek, and after a defeat to Oxford, they perhaps haven’t made as much progress as they would have liked.
However, their attacking quality is obvious for all to see. McKenna has been trying to find the right balance with George Hirst, Jadon Philogene, Sindre Walle Egeli, Jack Clarke, Sammie Szmodics, Chuba Akpom and Kasey McAteer all vying for a spot in the starting XI.
There should certainly be goals. Coventry, despite their dominance, have only kept one clean sheet in their last eight outings, so I’d certainly back Ipswich to get at least one goal. But the only team to beat Cov this season are Wrexham, and they have to score three goals - you just cannot keep this attack quiet this season, it seems.
As a result, I think backing Lampard’s men to find a win at Portman Road, with BTTS, is a sound shout for Saturday’s Football Bet of the Day.
