Fontwell park racecourse

It's a feast of jumps racing on Sunday with Cheltenham, staging the final day of the November Meeting, and Navan, hosting the Troytown Handicap Chase, joined by action from Fontwell.

Below are my three horse racing tips for Sunday's racing across Britain and Ireland.

  • 14:32 Navan - Aspurofthemoment each-way @ 12/1

14:05 Fontwell - Neo King @ 17/2

Puddlesinthepark (first) and NEO KING were the only two finishers last month over a similar trip here and they go again now in the Southern National.

Both are trained by Evan Williams and the winner had a definite fitness edge having stayed in training and rude health over the summer, while Neo King was having his first outing since February and just his third start over fences since joining this yard.

He was second at Exeter twice after the turn of the year, including over a trip in excess of 3m6f on heavy ground and stamina is clearly a big trait.

Allowing for claims, Neo King is 6lb better off this time around, should be sharper for the run and will be suited by the rain that has been falling. He looks a solid each-way play and remains unexposed over fences.

14:32 Navan - Aspurofthemoment each-way @ 12/1

The Troytown is the big race at Navan, with €60,000 for the winner and Gordon Elliott runs seven of the field in his quest for an eighth win.

Cheltenham Gold Cup-winning trainer Gavin Cromwell fires four at the prize and ASPUROFTHEMOMENT could be set for a big effort under 5lb claimer Patrick O'Brien off a rating of 129 with 10st 4lb to carry.

He has shown up well in his five starts over fences and was a good third behind French Dynamite in the Munster National at Limerick last month from 3lb lower.

He might have gone close bar a mistake at the second last but he stays the trip well and remains with more to give at this sort of trip in all probability, especially once he cuts out the mistakes.

As this is an Extra Place Race, with five available, I'm going each-way.

14:32 Navan - Each-way (1/5 - 5 places)

14:55 Cheltenham - Tanganyika @ 10/3

November is often a month in which the Venetia Williams/Charlie Deutsch alliance excels and they could land a nice pot with TANGANYIKA in this valuable marathon over just shy of three-and-a-half miles.

He improved with each of his five runs over fences last season and may not be done yet.

He won at Market Rasen and Carlisle in February over around three miles and then was carried out on his shield in the four-mile Midlands Grand National at Uttoxeter when last spotted as he finished second to Mr Vango with the pair miles clear.

He's 6lb higher in the ratings on his return but has scope for better and the fact he is a dual winner on heavy ground from his time over hurdles bodes especially well with conditions here set to be attritional. That, and his stamina, makes him a massive player if he strips fit and ready to show his best off a lovely weight of 10st 3lb with Protektorat in the race.

14:55 Cheltenham - Winner
