Football Bet of the Day: Spoils to be divided in Valladolid

While there are plenty of international fixtures taking place on Friday, there are still a few domestic contests taking place. One of them comes from Spain's Segunda Division as Real Valladolid host Las Palmas (19:30 GMT, Premier Sports Player).

Real Valladolid vs Las Palmas Odds

Real Valladolid have won five of their 13 league games this term and they are 13/10 to come out on top on Friday night. Las Palmas are 23/10 to come away with the three points, which they have managed on six occasions - but just two of them have come on their travels.

Under 2.5 goals has been a common theme for both clubs this season so far, with nine of their 13 Segunda Division appearances producing fewer than three goals. This market is valued at 8/15.

But the real value lies in backing the two teams to play out a draw, which is marketed at 15/8 (implied probability of 34.8%). This is what I have picked out as my Football Bet of the Day because both of these teams have drawn five matches apiece this term, and there are just three points separating them in the league table.

Las Palmas are third with 23 and the hosts are seventh with 20. A win for Valladolid could temporarily move them up to fourth while the visitors can go top with three points.

On paper, this is a fascinating contest because both teams have started the campaign well and both have ambitions of returning to La Liga. Valladolid's home form has been mixed. In seven matches at Jose Zorilla, they have W3 D2 L2 - with each outcome coming equally in the past three league fixtures held here.

They need to work on their consistency if they are to challenge higher up the table but Las Palmas will serve as a good test for them on Friday night.

The visitors have the second-best away form in the division, with 10 points collected. The Gran Canaria-based outfit are unbeaten on the road but they have just two victories to show from it.

The other four have all been draws, and this is what has weighed heavily on my selection. Las Palmas are consistently competitive away from home but they are not always good enough to convert one point into three.

And against a side who are performing okay on home soil, who are just three points behind them in the table, I think this will be another close encounter for Luis Garcia's men.

But the other detail that makes me feel confident that they will cancel each other out is the fact that they both have strong defences. Las Palmas boast the best defensive record in the division with eight goals conceded, while Valladolid have only been breached on 11 occasions.

Everything points towards this fixture being played out like a chess match and so the stalemate looks likely. The clincher for this selection was the fact that the two teams played out a draw inside this stadium when they last faced off in February.
