Lazio vs Cagliari Prediction: A low-scoring affair expected

Lazio's start to the season in Serie A has been consistently inconsistent, having equally won, lost and drawn their opening nine fixtures. They host Cagliari at Stadio Olimpico on Monday (19:45 GMT).
Below you will find my Lazio vs Cagliari predictions, accompanied by the latest team news and match odds.

Team News
Lazio are still dealing with a lengthy injury list, with the biggest being last term's top scorer Valentin Castellanos, who has a thigh issue.
Fisayo Dele-Bashiru (flexor), Matteo Cancellieri (hamstring), Samuel Gigot (ankle) and Nicolo Rovella (groin) are all unavailable, but left-back Nuno Tavares could be in a position to make the squad for Monday's clash.
Either veteran forward Pedro - who has just announced he will leave the club at the end of the season - will play as a false nine or Boulaye Dia will deputise for Castellanos up top.
The latter has scored three goals in as many Serie A games against Cagliari, but he has struggled to get into any kind of rhythm so far this season.
Cagliari are without striker Andrea Belotti (ACL) for the foreseeable future, so Sebastiano Esposito and Gennaro Borrelli are expected to lead the line for the visitors. Alessandro Deiola (thigh), Marko Rog (muscular) and reserve goakeeper Boris Radunovic (calf) are the other players in the treatment room.
Adam Obert is ruled out due to suspension for an accumulation of yellow cards, so Riyad Idrissi could operate on the left flank.
Lazio vs Cagliari Predicted Lineups
- Lazio: Provedel; Marusic, Gila, Romagnoli, Pellegrini; Guendouzi, Cataldi, Basic; Isaksen, Dia, Zaccagni
- Cagliari: Caprile; Zappa, Mina, Ze Pedro; Palestra, Adopo, Prati, Folorunsho, Idrissi; Borrelli, Esposito
Lazio have so far won two of their four home games in the league and they are 4/7 to come out on top here. They were both won to nil, with this selection priced at 11/8 (implied probability of 42.1%).
Three of the hosts' past four Serie A matches have ended in a stalemate, with the draw available at 3/1. Cagliari are 5/1 to come away with the three points but they are without a win in their previous five league appearances.
Lazio's last three Serie A fixtures went under 1.5 goals, which is valued at 9/4.
Lazio vs Cagliari Stats
- Two of Lazio's three league wins have come at home
- Cagliari are winless in five games
- Under 2.5 goals and BTTS - No has landed in Lazio's past three matches
Lazio and Under 2.5 Goals @ 23/10
Consistency has been an issue for Lazio so far but they are unbeaten in their last five league games heading into Monday's contest, which I think will set them up strongly to claim their fourth victory of the campaign.
They are at home, where two of their three wins to date have come, and they are up against a side who have failed to win in their previous five attempts in the top flight. Cagliari have also won just one of their four away trips in Serie A this term, and they are heading to the Olimpico, where Lazio have only lost once, and that was against rivals and shared occupants Roma.
This match gives the hosts a chance to push on and extend their unbeaten run to six games. I've added under 2.5 goals to the selection because it has been a successful bet in Lazio's last three outings in the league.

Both Teams To Score - No @ 4/5
BTTS - No has also been a winning selection in the hosts' past three fixtures in the league, with two of them being goalless stalemates with Atalanta and Pisa. The other was a 1-0 triumph over Juventus - which played into my thinking with my first selection.
But across the whole season to date, BTTS has landed just once in Lazio's nine Serie A fixtures. This has also been a successful bet in two of the visitors' last five league games, with Cagliari failing to score on both of those occasions.
