San siro inter ac milan scaled

Having been dealt the blow of a 3-1 defeat to champions Napoli on Saturday, Inter Milan are back in Serie A action on Wednesday when they entertain a struggling Fiorentina at San Siro (20:45 local, 19:45 GMT, live on Betfred.com and DAZN).

The Viola rescued a point having trailed 2-0 at home to Bologna on Sunday, so they will need to up their game to get anything from the Meazza. My Inter Milan vs Fiorentina predictions are below, alongside the latest team news and match odds from Betfred.

Inter Milan vs Fiorentina Betting Tips

  • Over 3.5 Total Goals @ 7/4

Team News

Inter cancelled coach Cristian Chivu’s press conference on Tuesday after it emerged that goalkeeper Josep Martinez had been involved in a fatal road accident.

It is unlikely the keeper, who has played twice this season, will be a part of the squad on Wednesday as a result, with Yann Sommer continue between the sticks.

Chivu is still without Marcus Thuram, who should make his comeback against Verona on Sunday. Henrikh Mkhitaryan, Matteo Darmian and another back-up keeper in Raffaele Di Gennaro are all unavailable.

Fiorentina have a few doubts, but Tariq Lamptey is still a long-term absentee after ACL surgery.

Albert Gudmundsson should get the nod over Edin Dzeko up top, while Pietro Comuzzo is on standby to take the place of Marin Pongracic if needed.

Inter Milan vs Fiorentina Predicted Lineups

  • Inter: Sommer; Akanji, Acerbi, Bastoni; Dumfries, Barella, Calhanoglu, Sucic, Carlos Augusto; Bonny, Lautaro
  • Fiorentina: De Gea; Pongracic, Pablo Mari, Ranieri; Dodo, Mandragora, Nicolussi Caviglia, Sohm, Gosens; Gudmundsson, Kean

Inter Milan vs Fiorentina Odds

We have big favourites in this one, and so do the Betfred oddsmakers. Inter are 2/5 for the victory at an implied probability of 71.4%. Fiorentina, on the other hand, are 15/2 to finally pick up a win at the ninth time of asking this season.

It’s 18/5 for Stefano Pioli’s side to take a point home with them, while Lautaro Martinez is a short-priced fav to score first.

The Argentine is 10/3 to strike first, with Ange-Yoan Bonny and Thuram both at 7/2. The top name among Viola players is Moise Kean out at 9/1.

Inter Milan vs Fiorentina Stats

  • Five of Inter’s 11 games this season have cleared the 3.5-goal marker
  • Fiorentina have no wins in eight Serie A matches, yet have won four out of four in the Conference League
  • The Viola lost at San Siro just 10 days ago, going down 2-1 to AC Milan after taking a second-half lead
  • Ange-Yoan Bonny has two goals and three assists in three starts for Inter, with one more of each in eight sub appearances

Today's Football Fixtures

Over 3.5 Total Goals @ 7/4

There are going to be goals in this one. There has to be goals in this one.

Inter’s 11 games this season have included 39 of the things (28 scored, 11 conceded), and Fiorentina are conceding at 1.5 goals per game so far in league action.

Even with no Thuram, the Nerazzurri forward line has been potent for the most part. Bonny and Martinez have made quite the pairing, and they continue to get great contributions from midfield.

And maybe even Fiorentina can be counted on to chip in, with their late comeback against Bologna from two goals down at least showing they have it in them to make opportunities for themselves.

The 7/4 odds about four or more ‘reti’ makes this a bet worth taking.

Ange-Yoan Bonny Scores & Assists A Goal @ 17/2

One of the big plus points for Inter this term has been the form of Bonny, who followed boss Chivu from Parma in the off-season.

Having already looked lively off the bench in his first seven Inter appearances – starting with a debut goal against Torino – the Frenchman has scored two and assisted four in his last four matches (three starts).

The timing of Bonny’s runs in the final third is a godsend for any midfielder willing to lift his head and look for an out-ball, and when he gets into good positions he so often seems to pick the right option whatever that may be.

The 17/2 available for him to score at least one goal and tee up another looks outlandishly big to me, so I’m happy to back Bonny to go big again.

With Thuram set to return at the weekend, this would be the perfect time for the 22-year-old to remind Chivu that he’s every bit as dependable as the big-name number nine.
