Mexican Grand Prix 2025 Predictions: Can McLaren get back on top?

Just 40 points. That’s now the gap between the top three drivers in the standings after Max Verstappen won again last time out in Texas. With just five races to go, it really is anybody’s title, with the Red Bull driver making up a crazy 64 points on Oscar Piastri in the last four races.
The maths checks out then, the four-time world champion can do this. But he needs to keep winning. Can he do it? Check out my Mexican Grand Prix 2025 predictions down below.

Odds correct at the time of publication
The odds have swung in Verstappen’s favour which is a sign of what we’ve seen in the last few weeks. He’s now the favourite to win (5/4) in Mexico City which just speaks of the momentum the four-time world champion has built up over the last month.
Lando Norris is 9/4 to find a vital win while Piastri is 3/1 to reach the chequered flag before anybody else. You can find all the Mexican Grand Prix Odds on the link above.
Oscar Piastri to win @ 3/1
I’m on the hunt for value this weekend and although it feels like Verstappen is the most likely winner, I’m not keen on backing it at just above EVS. Instead, I’m going back to Piastri, who is desperate to alleviate the pressure building on his shoulders with a race win.
Max is also under pressure, let's not forget. He has said himself that he needs to be “perfect” from now until the end of the season with a DNF or mechanical error potentially ending his title chances. You can’t ignore the fact that he’s won three of the last four and is bang in form, but the McLarens are still quick.
Lando is edging out his teammate in the market right now, probably because he was the quicker of the two at the Cicuit of The Americas, finishing second, with Oscar down in fifth. The Brit was aggressive in his battle with the Ferrari’s, and the McLaren still looked quick - albeit not quite quick enough to catch Max as he escaped in the clean air.
Anyway, this is a long-winded way to say that the value lies in backing Piastri to find the race win. Of course the form-book matters, but so does the race pace over the course of the season and so far, the Australian has been the best driver in 2025. The points don’t lie, and I expect him to make a sizeable statement in the dizzying heights of Mexico City.

Oliver Bearman points finish @ 6/4
Warning - this selection may be influenced by the fact that Haas’ Ollie Bearman went on Amelia Dimoldenberg’s new show, Passenger Princess. Amelia is famous for her Chicken Shop Dates, with famous celebrities from all over the world, from Maya Jama to Ryan Reynolds, featuring on that show.
Norris even appeared on that show with Amelia, but now Bearman was teaching her to drive. It’s a great watch, while the Haas’ driver has been in top form recently, posting two top-10 finishes in a row in the last two races. That gives me enough belief that he can land another points finish in Mexico at a decent price.
