Juventus launched a stunning late comeback in their Champions League opener to rescue a 4-4 draw at home to Borussia Dortmund, and now they will travel to Villarreal (20:00, TNT Sports 7) hoping to get their first win on the board.

The Old Lady remain unbeaten this season in all competitions, and below you can find my Villarreal vs Juventus predictions.

Team News

Villarreal will be hoping that two of their strikers, Gerard Moreno and Ayoze Perez can return to the squad for this game having missed out on Saturday’s 1-0 win over Athletic Club. Moreno is probably further away from returning from his hamstring injury, which means Georges Mikautadze is set to lead the line once more.

Tajon Buchanan, Canadian international, is the Yellow Submarine’s top scorer with three La Liga goals to his name and will start out wide, with Manor Solomon on the other flank. Former Arsenal man Pepe is expected to support Mikautadze up top as Villarreal look to continue their positive start to the season.

Football Odds

Juventus boss Igor Tudor will have to decide who plays up front, with Lois Openda, Dusan Vlahovic and Jonathan David all vying to play up top. Openda was given the nod against Atalanta at the weekend, but replaced by Vlahovic as David watched on as an unused substitute.

Francisco Conceicao is back in training and could start, while Tudor provided an update on  Khephren Thuram and Gleison Bremer after they were withdrawn with issues in the weekend’s 1-1 draw. “Thuram had calf problems, so I took him off. I think he had a great first half. Now we have to evaluate how serious his condition is. But you don’t have to be worried. I don’t think Bremer suffered anything serious. He had a slight strain.”

Villarreal vs Juventus Predicted Lineups

  • Villarreal: Junior; Mourino, Marin, Veiga, Cardona; Buchanan, Gueye, Comesana, Solomon; Pepe, Mikautadze
  • Juventus: Di Gregorio; Kalulu, Bremer, Kelly; Mario, McKennie, Locatelli, Cambiaso; Conceicao, Yildiz; Vlahovic

Today's Football Fixtures

Villarreal vs Juventus Odds

Villarreal are priced at 13/10 to win this game, with Juventus available at 9/4. That gives the home side an implied win probability of 43%, while a draw is 12/5.

Over 2.5 goals is 1/1, BTTS is 4/5 and Mikautadze is the favourite to score first at 5/1 having scored once in La Liga this term. You can find other odds and the Price Boosts on the link above.

Villarreal vs Juventus Stats

  • Villarreal have 16 points from seven La Liga games
  • Juventus drew their first UCL match 4-4 with Borussia Dortmund
  • Both teams have scored in the last four Juve matches

BTTS @ 4/5

Both teams have scored in the last four Juve games, and during that run we have seen two 1-1 draws, a 4-3 home win and that 4-4 thriller in the Champions League opener with BVB. They looked dead and buried when Ramy Bensebaini converted a penalty to make it 4-2 to the visitors, but 94th and 96th-minute goals from Vlahovic and Lloyd Kelly rescued an unlikely point.

Meanwhile, Villarreal have been strong this term, but fell to a 1-0 defeat to Spurs in their opening UCL fixture. Although they are tighter at both ends than Juve, both teams have scored in two of their last three La Liga games, and I expect this to be an open encounter.

Price Boost - 3+ goals, 10+ corners and 50+ booking points @ 13/2

This Price Boost has also caught my eye in what I expect to be another entertaining Juve outing. There have been three or more goals in two of the last three Villarreal games, and two of the last four Juve matches.

The Old Lady had six corners in total in their opening UCL game while Villarreal had the same number, so there will need to be an increase there for this to come in - but both of these teams have seen the opposition pick up red cards in recent weeks. Atalanta went down to 10 against Juve, while Osasuna had a man sent off in their Villarreal defeat.

I think this is a big price for an end-to-end barnstorming encounter at Estadi de la Ceramica on Wednesday night. Worth a small stake.
