Manchester United vs Chelsea Prediction: Blues to add to Amorim’s woes

Manchester United return to Old Trafford on Saturday (17:30 BST, Sky Sports Main Event) as they host Chelsea in the Premier League. The Red Devils suffered a 3-0 defeat at the hands of Manchester City last weekend but they did win their previous home clash against Burnley.
Chelsea were beaten 3-1 at Bayern Munich in the Uefa Champions League in midweek, and they were held to a draw on their last league appearance at Brentford. Read on for my Manchester United vs Chelsea predictions, supported by the latest team news and match odds.

Team News
Man United defender Lisandro Martinez is still recovering from a long-term knee injury sustained in February, while Matheus Cunha (hamstring), Mason Mount (unspecified) and Diogo Dalot (muscle) are also struggling with issues and will need to be assessed ahead of the weekend.
The big decision for boss Ruben Amorim this weekend is whether to hand new signing Senne Lammens his Premier League debut, or stick with Altay Bayindir as his first-choice goalkeeper.
Amorim must also choose his midfield pairing, with Kobbie Mainoo impressing from the bench against City last Sunday.
Bryan Mbeumo, Amad Diallo and Benjamin Sesko should comprise the hosts' attack.
Chelsea's Romeo Lavia and Benoit Badiashile (both unspecified), who are thought to be closing in on a return to fitness, are ruled out for this clash.
Levi Colwill (knee), Liam Delap (hamstring), Dario Essugo (thigh) and Mykhaylo Mudryk (suspended) remain sidelined.
Moises Caicedo and Enzo Fernandez should operate in the deep midfield roles, while Cole Palmer may operate in the number 10 role.
No player has been involved in more goals in the Premier League this season than Joao Pedro (five). The Brazilian is expected to feature up front for the visitors.
Manchester United vs Chelsea Predicted Line-ups
- Manchester United (3-4-3) - Lammens; Yoro, De Ligt, Shaw; Mazraoui, Casemiro, Fernandes, Dorgu; Mbeumo, Amad; Sesko
- Chelsea (4-2-3-1) - Sanchez; James, Chalobah, Tosin, Cucurella; Fernandez, Caicedo; Neto, Palmer, Garnacho; Pedro
Manchester United vs Chelsea Odds
Man United are unbeaten in their last five home PL outings against Chelsea, winning two of them. They are 17/10 to come out on top on Saturday.
The other three have been draws and the stalemate is available at 13/5.
Chelsea are 6/4 (implied probability of 40%) to come away with the three points, and they have won two of their previous three meetings with United.
Seven of the past eight head-to-heads have seen both teams find the net and BTTS is marketed at 1/2.
Manchester United vs Chelsea Stats
- Chelsea have won two of the last three meetings
- Joao Pedro (CHE) has three goals in six appearances against Man United
Chelsea to win @ 6/4
Chelsea are winless in their previous two competitive matches, so they will look to respond at Old Trafford, against a United side who are still lacking real signs of progress under Amorim.
The Portuguese coach has been in the role for 10 months and he is yet to win back-to-back matches in the Premier League. Chelsea look a better-drilled side than their hosts and I think they will have more than enough quality to beat United on their own patch.
Amorim will likely be feeling pressure to pick up more wins and this might just play into the visitors' hands. The Blues are still unbeaten in the top flight and Man United always look like they are there for the taking.
While it wouldn't be shocking for the Red Devils to lose this match, the manner of the defeat may spell more trouble for their unpopular head coach.

Joao Pedro anytime goalscorer @ 13/8
Joao Pedro has had a bright start to his Chelsea career, and he has been one of the best attacking players in the Premier League at the start of the 2025/26 campaign. The Brazil international has two goals and three assists so far, and he has been massively influential in each game he has played.
I reckon this will continue against United, who he has a respectable record against. In six career appearances against the hosts, Joao Pedro has found the net on three occasions.
United still look vulnerable when it comes to defending, and Joao Pedro's slick touches and finishing can give them a few headaches on Saturday evening.
