Burnley vs Nottingham Forest Prediction: Double chance may be the way to go

After last week's late heartbreak against Liverpool at Turf Moor, Burnley will look to respond when Nottingham Forest make the trip to Lancashire on Saturday (15:00 BST).
The Clarets may have lost three of their four opening games but they have been competitive in all of them. Below you will find my Burnley vs Nottingham Forest predictions, aided by the latest team news and match odds.

Team News
Burnley boss Scott Parker is having to cope without the services of Connor Roberts (knock), Jordan Beyer and Zeki Amdouni (both knee) due to ongoing injury issues, while Jacob Bruun Larsen is a doubt due to a knock he picked up in the recent international break.
Lesley Ugochukwu will play no part in Saturday's clash after receiving a red card in the defeat to Liverpool, so Josh Cullen could partner Josh Laurent in the double pivot.
In attack, Lyle Foster and Jaidon Anthony have shown promising glimpses during the first few weeks of the campaign, with Loum Tchaouna and Hannibal Mejbri potentially completing the forward line.
Ola Aina (hamstring) and Nicolas Dominguez (knee) are ruled out for Nottingham Forest, while Murillo is also a doubt after sustaining an injury in the defeat to Arsenal.
Should the Brazilian miss out, Nicolo Savona might come into the side to play at right-back, with Neco Williams occupying the left side of the defence. Morato would then likely pair with Nikola Milenkovic at centre-back.
Despite losing their Carabao Cup tie at Swansea City late on in midweek, Forest forward Igor Jesus bagged a brace, so boss Ange Postecoglou might consider handing him his full Premier League debut soon. However, it seems more likely that last season's top scorer Chris Wood will continue to lead the line for the Tricky Trees.
Burnley vs Nottingham Forest Predicted Line-ups
- Burnley (4-5-1) - Dubravka; Walker, Ekdal, Esteve, Hartman; Cullen, Laurent; Tchaouna, Mejbri, Anthony; Foster
- Nottingham Forest (4-2-3-1) - Sels; Savona, Milenkovic, Morato, Williams; Sangare, Anderson; Ndoye, Gibbs-White, Hudson-Odoi; Wood
Burnley vs Nottingham Forest Odds
Burnley have won half of their two home games in the league this season, and they are 5/2 (implied probability of 28.6%) to prevail against Forest.
One of the previous two Premier League meetings between the two sides ended in a draw, and the stalemate is also priced at 5/2.
Fores are 23/20 to come away with the three points, having won the last top-flight encounter here in May 2024.
Both teams to score has been a winning selection in the last two encounters between these two clubs and BTTS is marketed at 8/11 for Saturday.
Burnley vs Nottingham Forest Stats
- Burnley won their first PL home game against Sunderland
- It took a late penalty for Liverpool to beat the Clarets at Turf Moor last week
- Jaidon Anthony (BUR) has seen three of his eight shots hit the target in the league
Burnley or draw and both teams to score @ 13/8
Burnley will feel as though they deserved something against Liverpool last week as for much of the game they were able to nullify the threat of the defending champions. An unfortunate late handball resulted in a Mohamed Salah penalty and the game was lost.
There were positives to take for the Clarets, who have already shown more fight than some people were expecting heading into the new season. They welcome a Forest going through a transition, having replaced Nuno Espirito Santo with Postecoglou.
The Aussie coach has suffered defeats in his firs two games in charge of the Tricky Trees, so he will be eager to secure his first win sooner rather than later. Arriving at a new club isn't ideal when the season is underway as you don't have much time to prepare the players before another match rolls around.
This may work in Burnley's favour because the players are all familiar with their roles in Parker's system, while the Forest players are still figuring out their places in Postecoglou's machine.
As a result, I think covering double chance in Burnley's favour offers good value, and I have added BTTS because the last two meetings between the two sides have produced goals at both ends.

Jaidon Anthony to have 1+ shots on target @ 4/6
Anthony has been one of Burnley's star players in the first month of the season, scoring twice in four Premier League matches, while also registering an assist. I think he can pose huge problems for Forest on Saturday because he is always positioned to help lead the Clarets on the counter-attack.
Postecoglou traditionally likes to use a high line for his defenders, and this may present Anthony with some excellent opportunities to attack. I like the 4/6 price for the winger to have a shot on target in this contest.
Thirty-eight per-cent (3/8) of his shots in the top-flight this term have hit the target. Given Forest have lost their first two games under their new boss, conceding six goals in the process, I think Anthony can test goalkeeper Matz Selz at least once at Turf Moor.
