Titans vs Tigers Prediction: 7/5 Benji’s boys to best bottom club

As you’d expect for a meeting of two teams out of the play-off picture, Saturday’s clash between the Gold Coast Titans and Wests Tigers at Cbus Super Stadium has flown under most people’s radar (17:30 local, 08:30 BST).
Yet this could be great value to be had for the punter as Des Hasler waves farewell to the Titans and Benji Marshall’s improved second season as a coach comes to an end. My Titans vs Tigers predictions are below, alongside full team news and Betfred’s match odds.

The Titans are not fancied to send Dessie off with a win, with Betfred pricing up a home success at 21/20. You can get 5/6 about a Tigers victory inside 80 minutes, with the draw in normal time 18/1.
There’s not much being given away on the handicap, with the standard two-way bracket offering the Titans just 1.5 points in return for a 5/6 price. Against the slight disadvantage, the Tigers are 10/11.
Team News
Hasler’s final squad selection on the Gold Coast includes former Australia rugby union star Carter Gordon for the first time in the centres.
Another possible debutant is 18-year-old Cooper Bai, son of former Premiership winner and Super League star Marcus. He is named among the Titans substitutes.
Jojo Fifita is out with a hamstring injury, while Keano Kini moves to full-back and AJ Brimson will join Gordon in the centres with Phil Sami on the wing.
Wests cannot call upon Jeral Skelton, with the winger ruled out under concussion protocols. In comes Heamasi Makasini in his place, making it two 18-year-old debutants in the match.
Alex Sayfarth is back after a ban, so Charlie Murray drops to the reserve list.
Handicap 3-way Alt 1: Tigers -6 @ 7/5
I’m looking forward to seeing what the Tigers can do against a Titans side which has conceded 122 points in their last three games.
The sooner this season is over for Gold Coast the better. And although that has been said about a few of their campaigns of late, the anticipation after winning two of their first three matches has completed dissipated during a run of just three victories in 20.
I reckon that if Wests get ahead, the Titans will find it tough to muster the appetite for a great fight given the lost-cause nature of their 2025.
It probably won’t be a shellacking either way, so I’m not looking for a big handicap. But I can well see the Tigers winning with a score to spare and the 7/5 price at an implied probability of 41.7% is very favourable.

Tigers over 28.5 points @ 11/10
You can never really bank on the defence of any side in the lower reaches of the table, and there should be points on offer for both.
The Tigers aren’t prolific scorers normally, with their 19.52 average being the fourth-worst mark in the league. But against a Titans side shipping 30 points per game they should get to have some fun in that department on Saturday.
Besides the 24-10 loss to the Minor Premiers, Canberra Raiders, last week, the Tigers attack has been much improved of late. Three straight scores of 26 or more preceded that defeat in the ACT.
That run is far more in keeping with their offensive efforts earlier in the campaign before a mid-year slump left them falling away from finals contention.
So I see them ending the campaign on a high in Robina, with the 11/10 price falling in the punter’s favour.
