Ffos Las Tips: Sogood if we can land a winner on Thursday

There are five race meetings heading our way on Thursday from across the UK and Ireland, with all of them offering something for all kinds of fans. I like the look of the six-race card taking place at Ffos Las and I have hand-picked what I consider to be some of the best bets of the day in Wales.

15:10 - Diamondsinthesand @ 4/6

Nine runners have been declared for this Stakes race over 6f and one who arrives here with leading claims is DIAMONDSINTHESAND for Adrian Wintle's yard. The eight-year-old gelding won a C&D handicap here last month before finishing third of seven on his latest appearance at Ffos Las on August 5.

The son of Footstepsinthesand has a decent record at this racecourse which reads: 21213. Ground conditions are looking optimal for him and his recent success here sets him up nicely for this latest contest.

Taryn Langley, who steered Diamondsinthesand to victory in July, is back on board for this ride which only strengthens his claims.

16:10 - Offiah's Boy @ 5/1

OFFIAH'S BOY, for Joe Tickle's yard, is involved in this Class 6 handicap over 1m 2f - a distance he is very familiar with. The four-year-old gelding is gunning for a hat-trick of successes on this latest appearance, having prevailed at Bath (1m 3 1/2f) and more recently Salisbury (1m 2f), with both wins coming this month.

The son of Le Brivido has now landed four victories since June while he has now claimed two triumphs over this distance. There's a 3lb rise to consider here but it shouldn't stop a horse who is in such good form.

His claims are bolstered by the fact that he will be reunited with rider Taylor Francis, who has been on board for his past four outings.

16:40 - Sophar Sogood @ 5/1

The final race on the card is where I round off my selections and this contest is a Class 6 handicap over 2m. There are 12 runners declared for this one and there are a couple with decent claims. One of them is SOPHAR SOGOOD, who claimed his fourth career victory over this distance on his latest appearance at Catterick on August 5.

This was preceded by back-to-back second-place finishes at Wolverhampton (AW) with both runs coming over 2m 1/2f. Catterick was special, though, as it was his first turf victory in almost four years and trainer John Butler will be hoping that he can follow up at Ffos Las.

Colin Keane takes the reins for this one in what is his first ride for the yard.
