Nicolson vs Singh Predictions: Undaunted Urvashi will find out that Skye is the limit

Skye Nicolson stays active with her second fight in seven weeks as she takes on Urvashi Singh. Last month the former world champion beat Carla Gonzales in Manchester. Now she returns home to Australia, fighting at the ICC Convention Centre in Sydney on a DAZN card. The main event sees Jake Wyllie take on Youssef Dib.
Here are Nicolson vs Singh predictions ahead of this super bantamweight contest.

Nicolson vs Singh Fight Preview
You cannot accuse Nicolson of resting on her laurels. The 29-year-old from Queensland boxes for the third time this year, in her second outing of the summer, this Saturday. Skye’s first 2025 foray saw her lose her WBC featherweight championship in an upset to Tiara Brown. Since then, the Olympian has been working overtime to get back to the top.
A big part of that rebuild has been a move down to the super bantamweight division. Known for her technical boxing skill, stoppages had been hard to come by for Nicolson at featherweight. An oft-criticised hole in her game, only one of her 12 victims had failed to hear the final bell before the Brown fight.
But the early signs are good. It took Nicolson two rounds to see off Gonzales in Manchester last month. It remains to be seen how much of that was comfort at the new weight and how much was due to the gulf in class. Gonzales had been stopped in two of her three losses coming in.
But Singh has never been knocked out in 15 fights, winning 12. She has held the WIBA super bantamweight title. That title was once considered a genuine world title, but since the four major sanctioning bodies have turned their attention to women’s boxing, it is now a minor belt on par with the men’s IBO.
Singh is a proper challenge for Nicolson. Of her three defeats, only one was a unanimous verdict. A split loss to Phannaluk Kongsang on away soil in 2018 and a majority decision to Casey Croft in 2021 are the other blemishes. She is unbeaten in four years since the latter reverse.
The Indian star is well-travelled, so the Aussie crowd is unlikely to bother her. Singh has racked up wins in the Philippines, Thailand, Sri Lanka and Dubai. She has even won Down Under before, out-scoring Thanchanok Phanan in Melbourne last year. Singh is your classic “has gloves, will travel kind” of boxer.
This is a good test for Skye. With the comeback fight out of the way, sensibly taken in the UK rather than her expectant homeland, now Nicolson can put on a performance in front of her people.
Odds correct at time of publishing.
An IBF ranking belt is on the line, which would theoretically put the victor on a collision course with Ellie Scotney. The Lewisham boxer is the woman to beat at the weight, holding the IBF, WBC, WBO and The Ring versions of the title. Scotney is handled by Most Valuable Promotions, headed by Jake Paul. Matchroom have open lines of communication with ‘The Problem Child’, having negotiated bouts such as the Katie Taylor-Amanda Serrano series together. A Nicolson victory makes the Scotney fight a real possibility.
The pair have circled each other for a while, with Scotney keen on a crack at Nicolson’s now-lost WBC featherweight strap. Nicolson is insistent she wants the fight at super bantamweight, now that Scotney holds the keys to that kingdom. Hopefully any creases can be ironed out and this excellent potential clash finds itself in a prize ring.
But before that big bout, Nicolson must come through here against a game opponent. Most boxers would view fighting Skye in Australia as an “opponent” gig. But Singh’s record suggests she is only eyeing the upset.

Nicolson vs Singh Prediction
Singh does not feel like a soft-touch to me. Nor should she be. If Nicolson is going to secure another title shot, the wins need to be impressive. A victory over the Indian boxer serves that purpose.
It is a victory I think Skye will get. I am not sure if the knockout we saw last time was down to a more conducive weight or weaker opposition than Nicolson’s recent quarry. We’ll find out. But I’m picking Nicolson to win at 1/80.
