Football Bet of the Day: 7/1 Price Boost catches the eye

We’ve got a lot of footballing action coming our way on Wednesday, but I refuse to bet on friendlies and a lot of the worldwide action kicks off in the wee hours of the morning. So even though it’s already had plenty of coverage on Betfred Insights, I believe I’ve found some cracking value in the Germany vs Spain European Championship semi-final.

This semi-final should provide plenty of entertainment as world champions Spain look to continue their sparkling form up against a dogged Germany outfit. The Germans looked like they were down and out just 13 minutes into their quarter-final with France, as Kathrin Hendrich was sent off and Grace Geyoro converted the resulting penalty. 

But from 1-0 down they fought back impressively to equalise and take the game to extra time and penalties, where goalkeeper Ann-Katrin Berger became the hero. She made two saves to seal the victory and take Germany to the semis, and having finished as the runners-up at Wembley in 2022, they will be desperate to go one step further. 

However, they are coming up against the world champions, and the team that are odds-on to win this entire competition. Spain have proven themselves to be the best team on the planet during this tournament, winning every match by two or more goals so far.

That is a good starting point for our Price Boost, which sees us back Spain to win this semi-final comfortably. Germany have had two players sent off in their last two games, and I’m slightly concerned about their disciplinary record of late. If they do go down to 10 once again, this will be a really one-sided match, but either way I’m expecting a massive Spanish performance and a handsome victory to boot. 

If that is the case, then Esther Gonzalez - the leading scorer at the Euros so far - should find the net. The Gotham FC striker has scored four in four in Switzerland to make it seven goals in eight games in 2025 for her country. She’s nailed down that starting spot and with an incredible supply line should be able to find her fifth goal of the competition. 

Germany have only kept one clean sheet from their four matches, and both teams have scored in their last three so there are plenty of goals on offer in my mind. Lea Schuller is one of the finest strikers on the planet while Spain have scored 16 goals in four matches so far - averaging four per game. That means BTTS is a fantastic option for this semi-final and rounds off our Price Boost nicely.

I’m expecting a 3-1 or 4-1 win for Montse Tome’s side as they target more tournament success. If that comes in and Gonzalez also finds the net, we will be onto a winner for Wednesday’s Football Bet of the Day.
