Monday is a busy day for racing fans, with five meetings across Britain and Ireland. They consist of the afternoon jumps card at Cartmel, alongside Flat cards at Ayr in the afternoon before Windsor, Ballinrobe and Beverley in the evening. There is plenty to whet the appetite for racing fans of all persuasions as another week gets underway.

My NAP of the Day opened his account recently for trainer Karl Burke at Beverley and could prove equal to the challenge of improving again back at the Yorkshire circuit. He ran third yesterday at Redcar and if turning out again so quickly I'm taking the hint.

19:20 Beverley – Gloriously Sassy @ 3/1

Seven-and-a-half-furlongs is the trip facing the field of six runners in this Class 4 handicap contest on Beverley's evening card.

Mysteryofthesands has two wins in his last four starts for the Tim Easterby team but soft ground appeared to catch him out at Carlisle last time and similar underfoot conditions are expected at Beverley. The four-year-old remains on a workable mark.

The one that appeals though is GLORIOUSLY SASSY for Karl Burke and Sam James.

The gelded son of Cotai Glory is still just a three-year-old and has only six runs behind him. He placed in a pair of novice contests at Catterick and Windsor over 7f/1m before flopping on his Sandown handicap debut in May.

That race didn't pan out too well, and connections soon opted for a return to maiden company over this track and trip in the middle of last month.

Gloriously Sassy sat second for much of that contest as pace-setting Forest Caper set a decent clip in front.

As they approached the final furlong, he ran on well and picked off the leader, getting stronger with every stride, and ultimately found himself well on top at the line as the remainder of the closers failed to get in a telling blow.

That maiden has worked out quite nicely. Forest Caper ran a sound race at Thirsk since and the fourth, Commanche Warrior, obliged at Carlisle this month in novice company for Richard Fahey.

Gloriously Sassy dips into handicaps now for the third time (ran respectably yesterday) rated 78 and carries bottom-weight with just 9st 3lb here.

There should be more improvement in his locker and, if handling this slower ground and getting a good pace to aim at, he could be good enough to make it 2-2 over track and trip at Beverley.
