Football Bet of the Day: Shamrock looking to extend lead at the top

There's plenty of football action to get stuck into on Friday, and our Football Bet of the Day comes from the League of Ireland Premier Division as Shamrock Rovers host Waterford United at Tallaght Stadium (20:00).
Shamrock currently sit top of the table but will be hoping to bounce back here after losing to Bohemians last time out. Waterford, by contrast, sit seventh - third from bottom - but are nine points clear of the relegation zone.

Shamrock Rovers vs Waterford United Odds
The hosts are 4/11 favourites, giving them an implied win probability of 73.3%, while the visitors are 13/2 and the draw is currently available at 10/3.
For goals, over 2.5 is available at 4/6, which suggests a game with scoring potential, especially given Shamrock’s average of 2.27 goals per home game and Waterford’s tendency to concede.
Shamrock head into Friday's contest sat top of the table, boasting a record of 13 wins, six draws and four defeats from their 23 league matches this season, totalling in 45 points - nine clear of second-placed Bohemians.
As mentioned in the introduction, they'll be looking to bounce back here after losing 2-0 to Bohs last time out, which ended a run of form that saw them win eight of their previous nine encounters.
In addition, Stephen Bradley's home record is excellent this campaign, picking up 24 points from 11 outings in front of their own fans - the best home record in the entire division.
Football Bet of the Day Stats
- Shamrock Rovers are currently top of the League of Ireland Premier Division with 45 points
- Waterford United have won just one of their last six matches
There shouldn't be too much stopping Rovers claiming all three points here, as they're on a four-game winning run against Friday's opponents, including a 3-1 success when the two teams last locked horns in May.
Waterford’s recent matches have often seen goals at both ends and that looks set to continue on Friday, and Shamrock have scored two or more goals in 14 of their 23 league games this term.
United's record on the road also makes for grim reading - they have won only four of 10 but conceded an average of 1.40 goals per game, with just one clean sheet and four games where they fired blanks.
That being said, the hosts have only kept one clean sheet in their last six encounters, so I'm backing a Shamrock win along with goals at both ends at 2/1.
